pippy
If we could gather a couple of people around here, to clean the place of rats first, I will bring the wine. :)... Ahhh....Tokaji. Haven't had any of that nectar for around 15 years. And is that a bottle of 6 Puttonyos you are preparing for us?......................you are, indeed, a very generous host, Bence! Looking forward to Friday's edition of this thread! P.

Traditionally, there was no such as 6 Puttonyos. If a winery offers such, I'd stay away from them. Even 5 is suspicious. If You prefer heavier wines, I would recommend the Tokaji "Aszúeszencia". http://www.tokajiaszushop.eu/borok_54/aszueszenciak_134/tokajbor_bene_1999_aszueszencia_218 Cheers... Bence P.S.: Is that "6" on my pic? I thought it was 4. My eyes are getting weak, must get glasses soon! Sorry!
btoth76
Bence is a class act. I read it on the internet. Thank You, Rev! You are very kind! :) As far as Tokaji is concerned, when buying wine that is labelled 5 or 6 Puttonyos, please ask the seller whether the numbering is according to pre-1959 standards or 1959 regulations. If it's made to post-59 standards, You know it's not the real thing. In that case, the thickness (body) of wine is achieved by overdosing the sugar. That's not how it supposed to be. Also, a Tokaji Aszú should be at least as many years old when bottled, as the numbering is. Cheers... Bence

Hey; a 4 would still be perfectly acceptable, though!....... In any case I doubt the few Tokajis I've had have been 'sweeter' than a 3 but, as I said earlier, it's been a long time since I had any at all and the last of those was only because a close friend brought one back from Budapest.... btoth76
I am not a wine specialist, nor do I allowed to drink. (When I break the rule, I rather drink a bottle of beer or two). But I am quite confident to say: You are right. After 3, the differences in sweetness are impossible to notice. Cheers... Bence

btoth76
Sorry for the bad quality pictures. I used my cell-phone to shot these, right after arrival. So, it's an American Special Stratocaster in Surf Green color. Kind of the Studio model of Strats. It was just 70 USD over the MIM Deluxe Roadhouse. At 835 USD right here locally, - it was a steal. 999 USD at Musician's Friend, 999 EUROs at Thomann in Germany. It's the first time, I find an U.S.-made instrument at much lower price here in Hungary than anywhere else. So, I couldn't skip it. It was the last example. Cheers... btoth76
Nice grain of maple on the satin-finished fingerboard: Big frets - 22 of them. ...
btoth76
Same Texas Special pickups, as in the Deluxe Roadhouse: Very nice! Needs a setup - nothing unexpected about it. Surprisingly light instrument. Cheers... Bence

btoth76
Thank You! It will be a nice weekend. Practicing dominant 7th chords on a nice new guitar will be a joy! :D By the way: Fender's Strat range is just as complicated as Gibson's Les Paul range. Until I've figured, why does this U.S.-made instrument costs just a hair over an MIM model took me a day or two. Obviously, this is an entry level instrument in it's range, without all the modern features of the American Standard, and with a satin finish on the neck. Also, it came with a gigbag (a quite normal one, though). Where Fender wins over Gibson is the pricing. This is an acceptable price for such an instrument. A Gibson Les Paul Studio's price now very close to the sum one had to pay for a Traditional couple of years ago. Cheers... Bence

kidblast
By the way: Fender's Strat range is just as complicated as Gibson's Les Paul range. yea,, definitely true with all the makers these days. I may sound like I'm broadcasting my indifference due to age, but,,, when I started out, as a teen age kid trying to cut my teeth on this instrument, it was really quite simple.. a strat, was a strat, a tele was a tele. that was it. the only thing you had to figure out was what color over a handful of options, and what fretboard you desired,, and that's even if you HAD the luxury to choose. some what true for Les Pauls,, Standards, Deluxe, and Customs.... not a lot of cross breeding... These days,,, fahgetaboudit, you need a wikipedia site and a road map to try and cut through all the bs... so Bence, let us know how you're liking the new ride... /ray
Mr. C.O. Jones
Wow, I totally dig that finish, even better than yellow. And it was the last one? Looks like they save the best for the last. I still can't believe my luck with the Traditional. And now it looks like something similar happened to you. At that price it would have been a shame to let it slip away. Congratulations, enjoy it!
