Homz
This NRA argument sort of reminds me of a scene from 'Stripes'. Time frame of scene 1:24/2:00 It's like joining the Army because you thought you were going to be drafted when there is no draft.

FirstMeasure
Any after pics of the Snowman? Actually, this is exactly the picture to help make my point. If you're into blasting the snit out of toasters, tvs, computer towers, or plastic snowmen (Like I do), and you clean up after yourself, you should be able to do that with a barret light 50 if you want to. Or an Uzi o a Mac 10. How else are you gonna find out how overrated the MAC 10 is. How else are you gonna know the Kick of a AR 15 as opposed to a SKS, and how they compare to Ak 47's made in Russia comapared to the noticibly lesser quality Chinese mad ones. When I shot my first Refrigerator, my first thought was, "What a charge. I can't believe people would use this on each other." After getting my fill of assault weapons I really settled into lever action 30-30's and Mini 14's (I love .223). If I had the money for a second hobby, I'd have a Ruger Vacaro and join the SASS. FirstMeasure
The snow man was actually a let down. And yes we always take more out with us than we bring in. It's so much more fun than paper targets, and we do our part to keep the wilderness clean. I gotta get a new Rifle,

NeoConMan
I rest my case. Your photo confirms my beliefs. Okay' date=' I'll jump in with the trolls here. Hoyt, I'm a gun owner. What must you think of me? See these guitars? Scan the pic, assess a rough value, and then imagine they were guns of the same cost, build quality and reverence. [img']http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2202/2206893889_eddcae4914.jpg?v=0[/img] Now you have an idea of what I have in my house, and lets just say I have ample "strings" for them all. Hoyt, I'm a gun dealer. Look at this pic of my friend's guitar shop. Using the same analogy as my home above, THIS is what my gun shop will look like when I open a store front. Hoyt, what firearms WOULD you allow me to own? Hoyt, what knowledge of firearms do you have to even consider such a question? Hoyt, what hobbies do you enjoy that I might infringe upon? Hoyt, do your children share in your hobbies as mine do? Hoyt, what other Constitutional rights and Amendments would you like to see cast off as "wrong" in your eyes? Hoyt, can you use logic, knowledge or wisdom on such a subject or are you handicapped like most Liberals on the subject? I eagerly await your pleasant and measured response, the insults you've delivered so far are adequate for now.
Dynadude
It's not too vague for me. If you buy it as an "assualt weapon"' date=' you've got a problem. Remember the 30 year old right wing gun-nut in the CNN/YouTube Presidential debate who asked the candidates if they would protect his “baby” — the Bushmaster AR-15 semiautomatic rifle he cradled in his arms (and probably caressed most nights). Biden nailed him when he said “I’ll tell you what, if that’s his baby, he needs help.” “I don’t know that he is mentally qualified to own that gun. I’m being serious.” I agree with Biden. But, I guess some folks have to own something like that to feel whole, secure and loved.[/quote'] If you can't voice a good argument, just stoop to insults. Good strategy. Let me give it a try. I guess it's up to people that have the balls to own a weapon to keep your wimpy butt free. There, how's that? Did I meet you on level ground? NeoConMan
Yeah Dude, That works too. Anybody quoting Joe "Bozo" Biden to make a point is one nugget short of a Happy Meal anyway. Am I the only one that noticed Biden was a f-cking idiot in the 1980's? Can't say he's gotten any smarter since....
matiac
I am member for the core reason that they're main goal is the protection of the right of gun ownership. I am firm believer that law abiding citizens should be allowed to own guns to protect themselves' date=' their family and their property. Certainly criminals don't care about following the laws and they have no problem acquiring and using guns... But I digress...[/quote'] Here Here!! I agree with Lpden 100%, but I still think "Assault Weapon" is too vague a term, especially the way they had the law/s set up when I was a member during "Bubba's" administration. I used to own an old SKS I got from my dad that had never been fired, I just hung it on the wall in my "man-cave" cuz I thought it looked kool. Point is, under the Clinton admin., if any weapon (semi auto rifle) came equipped or was equipped with a magazine greater than I believe it was 5 rounds, it was deemed by the Govt. an "assault weapon". My gun had a 50 shot banana clip that was purchased "pre-ban", making it perfectly legal, and I had paperwork to prove it, because it was "grandfathered" in before the law took effect. So not only is the term vague, it's also extremely subjective. What's to stop me, or anyone else to take that "grandfathered" weapon, and go shoot up a McDonald's somewhere? As far as I'm concerned, if the weapons fired in anger at another person, it's an assault weapon, beyond the Govt.'s definition, because the Govt.'s definition is too vague. LPDEN
Law abiding citizens are allowed to own guns. With or without the NRA. Yes, but there are many who don't want it that way that try to infringe on ( or change) these rights.
FirstMeasure
That guys AR 15 was a Beauty, and I was very dissapointed when Biden tried to Belittle him for having a Completed Project. Thats all I saw, a Man very proud of his completed project, like a Harley Owner that's showing off all his aftermarket parts, the Classic Car owner that finally got his Chrome Landau Bars, or a guy who got a Lowenbrau handle for his Keg Fridge (true story's all). Why should I be forbade from putting a real Colt Bayonet on my Mini 14 just 'cause some Paranoind Politician Pee's every time she sees one? djroge1
I know I'm late on this post, but I'm all for the NRA even though I'm no longer a member. I was a member when I was into guns and reloading as a hobby. I'm also for being able to own and shoot fully automatic "assalt" weapons - no real reason, it's just that I've always wanted a fully auto Thompson machine gun. NeoConMan
I say we cap the speed on all Hoyt's vehicles to 15 mph so he's safe in a school zone - and elsewhere. Brutal arrest by the FEDS, detention, and a lengthy criminal record awaits those who thwart the law. If he takes more than one guitar out to show people, we'll have him arrested for brandishing multiple weapons. Thousands die from bludgeoning every year, lotsa video of the destructive capability of a guitar. Witness Hendrix, Townsend, Paul Stanley, Cobain, and hundreds of others. Exhibit A - YouTube. If the guitar has a nice gloss finish, lets expose him for being so reckless with the envirinment and resources. Personally, I would like to monitor the education of HIS children, nieces, nephews, grandkids...

NeoConMan
Okay, let's keep this simple. So you actually own a gun yourself while you're pissing on the 2nd Amendment. Hoyt, what firearms WOULD you allow me to own? What other Constitutional rights and Amendments would you like to see cast off as "wrong" in your eyes? My Dad made one thing very clear to me; Never be stupid enough to pull out a gun unless you're smart enough to use it. Never pointed a gun at another human in my life, hope I never have to.... Things I DID point a gun at died quickly and cleanly. Personal responsibility and accountability is not reserved solely for gun ownership. It is the duty of EVERY American in every facet of living.
