SteveFord Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 (edited) As usual I'm plotting my next move and there's a Firebird I've been looking at for quite some time. Earlier today I ready an article about "Firebird Neck" and how the weight of the banjo tuners could cause the necks to snap easily, even if they're in the case. I took a much closer look at this guitar and not only is it beat up but look at that neck, I don't think that's a relfection. Shame as that's exactly the color my old one was so that's what drew me to it. Edited September 18, 2020 by SteveFord Quote
Mutha Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 At a guess its like it fell against a table edge, marked head, tuner and stressed finish. Quote
SteveFord Posted September 19, 2020 Author Posted September 19, 2020 I wonder if it turns into this if you take the strings off: That was a Martin HD-28 which showed up a few years back. That pic is day 2 after I changed the strings. Quote
Larsongs Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 (edited) That would be a pass for me.... Mine has Steinberger's which are amazingly accurate Tuners... I've had mine for about 5-6 years with no Neck issues.. Edited September 19, 2020 by Larsongs Quote
Keefoman Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 It looks like they are just finish cracks, but it's hard to tell from the pictures. I also see markings from rubber on a wall hanger that has reacted with the nitro. Quote
Larsongs Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 There are lots of Firebirds out there without cracked Necks you can buy.. Why would you even consider this? Quote
Sgt. Pepper Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Make me a deal and make it straight. Quote
SteveFord Posted September 19, 2020 Author Posted September 19, 2020 I'm not buying this one or even considering it. Once I started looking at the pictures it was what are you, nuts? $3700 or something crazy like that. Quote
