BBG stole my sentiment.  That is a good strummer for sure.  I still kick myself for forgetting to have you show me how to record with Garage Band when Powder and I swung in on our little tour.   Question about that guitar, and maybe Gibson squares in general - do you find that they require a pick to get the tone you want?  I can't hold onto a pick and just flail away with my fingers.  It seems every time I hunt down a bird it sounds ok, but really spreads its wings if subjected to a pick.

I cannot answer your question but I only play with my fingers and have never owned a square shoulder Gibson 6 string.  You may think these go together and you may think they do not.  I have no rule book about such things.  Just the way it turned out.

Fantastic, Sal. Way to make ‘er sing!

I, too, might want to play around with GarageBand, so if you have tips for simple functionality, I’d be all ears. (MacBook or iPhone—even iPad, maybe.)

I used to use Audacity, but even that looks hard now.

Really like this!

shucks and thanks

if anyone wants detail on how i record, message me. i’ve gotten simpler as time has passed.  i’m actually using the internal mic in the macbook  i used to use an apogee but the newer ones have gotten more complex and i haven’t mastered it

today :

1) macbook photo booth.  record main track video and audio. drag it to desktop.

2) open garageband and start a project. drag in the file from the desktop. it brings in the video and audio. in the audio track i usually add a little reverb. that’s it.

3) add a second track for vocals (harmony)  On the left you pick “voice” and scroll down to “tracking vocal”   i like that one for singing

4) put headphones on. record and sing the harmony.

5) when other tracks are done play with the levels so that you like the mix. you can even pan tracks left and right. i do that slightly.

6) expiry to desktop. then you can upload that to youtube or wherever
