“Mexico’s Finest Beer”

A  month or so ago a pal of mine in St. Paul told me about a shooting at a liquor store just a couple of doors down from his house. Some guy went in and grabbed a six-pack of Modelo and ran out. The clerk chased him and the shoplifter turned and shot him. Thankfully, the clerk survived. My buddy knew all this because the cops noticed his doorbell camera and wondered if it captured the thief; it did. The guy had parked right in front of my buddy’s house.

I pulled out the J-35 and turned the story into, “Mexico’s Finest Beer.” (Although when I drank, if I wanted a Mexican beer, I’d go with Tecate….)

dhanners you just wrote a song that Ray Wylie Hubbard would probably love to cover, or one that he wish he wrote.

Wow. Thanks. Ray Wylie has been an inspiration since the early ‘80s. Used to listen to him on KNON in Dallas.

If you have any connections to Ray, feel free to drop my name….
