Steve Kalisher
I bought a brand-new SJ-200 Standard in April. It's absolutely gorgeous, sounds great, and plays great. Has a very slight buzzing on the A string at the 2nd and 3rd frets. I tried giving the neck a bit of relief, but the buzz wouldn't go away until the action got too high. So, I called Gibson Support and was able to get an RMA number (official repair #) and the guitar was sent back to Nashville on 6/21, They told me that it would probably take 2-3 weeks to repair. It's now 8/24, (9 weeks from sending it back to them), and now they claim that it's still going to be another3-5 weeks until it's ready. For a brand-new guitar?? Heck, they've had it in the shop longer than I've had it in my home. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't worried about what they need to do and what type of condition it will be in upon return. Anyone else have issues with their guitar repair in Nashville?
slimt
You may be waiting a while. How many others in front of yours to be fix? Im sure theres a line up behind yours as well.
Dave F
I’ve had nothing but good results from two guitars I’ve sent back. It took a long time but was worth the wait. I wouldn’t fret 🙂
J185cat
I echo what Dave F just said. I have had good results from their warranty service but yeah it is slow. Real slow.
gearbasher
I also had great results from their warranty service. But, I never understood, why does Nashville repair the acoustics? I think they should go back to Bozeman.

slimt
Us in Canada when we buy a New Gibson up here have to deal with the Gibson dealer , then the info goes to Yorkville in Ontario to see if it warrants a shipping label to the US. Otherwize they fix up here within the 1 year we get for a Warranty . kind of sucks if your not aware of the program. Martin has there own specialty repair hubs here. The one here is real good. But the lack of information on the issues is a issue. I owned a 41 D28 authentic , bought new. 6 months after the binding started popping off from the outer rims. The tech fixed it. But failed to disclose that he refinished the whole body after. That was my major complaint After fighting with the repair depot and where I bought it from . They took the guitar back. good techs are hard to find. Alot of sloppy hacks out there that like krazy glue.
fortyearspickn
Sorry Steve. No anecdotes here. I got nuttin' !
Steve Kalisher
Thanks all for sharing your experiences. Definitely helped to soothe my guitar anxiety (well, most of you anyway !!). Not sure if it was this particular post, or just my dumb luck, but I received an email from Customer Support this morning saying that the guitar will be ready in 1 week. Keeping my fingers crossed. Yikes. Usually, Gibson repair has been good, even great, but I did have one very disappointing experience where the incorrect sunburst was applied and the incorrect pickguard installed on a Custom Shop guitar. Still can't get to loving that guitar much since the messed it up! Fred Humbuckers on a Hummingbird? Ok
Larsongs
I’ve sent 3 Gibsons to Gibson for Warranty Repairs over the years.. They did take time but always did an excellent job.. 1. Gibson Bozeman Masterbilt J-160E, It’s been so long I forgot why I sent it in? But, it came back better than New & Perfect. I play it more than all my Acoustics. Including my Martins.. 2. Epiphone 50th Anniv Ltd Edition 1961 Casino with Tremotone. The Tremotone made a rattling noise that couldn’t be repaired. They sent me an exact replacement which was perfect.. 3. Gibson Memphis Blacktop ES Les Paul with Bigsby. The Headstock had a 7th hole drilled into it & a repair had been done. But it was a visible repair.. I couldn’t do an exchange with Sweetwater as they were Ltd. Editions & were Sold Out. Somehow Gibson had 1 more & sent it to me. It was also perfect..
Steve Kalisher
Well it was worth the wait, albeit a long wait for sure (11 weeks). Guitar arrived back today and it's perfect. Thank you Gibson.

Tim Tim
Be glad it’s not a martin, or it could take a year! (and I say that as a martin fan.)

egoidealmusic
I'll admit that it was a problem that initially brought me here, but now I check it every day. Sound advice, some deep wisdom, and some outstanding comedy from time to time. Come for the complaints and stay for the laughter! 😉

Have made some stellar friends, many of whom I’ve met in person and several I’ve bought/sold guitars to or from, and whilst there is the occasional wrinkle here and there I’d say far fewer kickfights than on most forums. This place is golden.
