The only downside I can see would be for folks who don't like Bigsby tailpieces. If you like 'em, go for it!

I've heard about some not being happy with how high up it sits with the Vibra-thingy. Not enough break angle at the bridge. ...

That's kind of like the ol' don't "wrap over the stop" debate - goes on for pages.

Just sayin' [blush]

I installed mine without a vibramate and without drilling a single hole. The strap button's screw will fasten the tailpiece securely, and string tension keeps everything squared away.

My only suggestion with any vibrato or tremolo on the guitar make sure you use graphite or Big Bend's nut sauce in your nut slots. This fixes all tuning issues, do not let anyone tell you differently. Most common problem with tuning is never the tuners or tremolo, it is usually the string getting caught in the nut slot which is an easy fix!

Those Bigsbys look nice but the American version looks super beefy and a little big on a Les Paul.

The "Bigsby Licensed" version that comes in some Gibsons and Taylor electrics is cheaper and not as beefy and big, my Casino has one and it is just fine for the use I give it.
