There's no pattern in the chaos right now Filtering can be difficult. Maybe you can setup your server to subscribe to a Block List service like zen.spamhaus.org to help filter known spam sources. There's a fine line when filtering without getting false positives. In the mean time, I'm sure my fellow forumites and I will try to help by reporting.
