Aster1
Hi Ya'll, Stupid question of the day. If you had your choice of a limited run guitar of 1961 pieces, would you rather guitar # 163 or # 1564? Or would you not give a "Rats As-" between them? The reason is I received two 1961 50th Aniv. Casino's and will be sending back one (long story that don't make no never mind to the question). One is on the beginning of the run, the other heading to the tail end of the run. What say ye on this about that? Aster
Lungimsam
I'm not a collector, so i would pick the one that looks, plays, and sounds better. I don't know anything about collection. I don't know if the earlier one is more valuable for collection purposes. Maybe someone here can say. Please post pics!!! Congrats!!!
grampa
I think the manufacturers put them out just so they can charge more.
charlie brown
It's called "marketing!" Great, if you happen to be one who needs/wants that particular type/style/year of guitar...and, are willing to pay the often highly inflated (more than usual) prices! As to which one to keep? That might depend on "where" in the front end or back end of the run, the guitars are. Very close, to the beginning #1-5, maybe, would be the most valuable (IF at all), seems to me. After that...??? djroge1
From the collectors point of view the lower serial number could be worth more as long as they both played well and were very close in most every other way. The question is what do you plan to do with the guitar? Are you going to play it because you like it or are you going to just preserve it and hope to sell it one day? Answer that and you have answered your own question. Having said that... I have an SRV strat that is somewhere in the 900's serial number with Brazilian rosewood fretborad (I hope the feds don't raid my house... :( ). I would like to keep it for collectors value but I also play it somewhat regularly.
saturn
I've seen Pink Floyd tributes before and that was pretty cool. Mostly I'm not too interested in them though. I like cover bands, but I like to hear their take on the covers. I don't really get into watching a dress and perform note-for-note version of songs and artists. A few more that I might not mind seeing would be Elvis, Beatles or maybe KISS. I probably wouldn't go out of my way, but if they happened to be playing somewhere I was, I might check them out. Must have been a late night for and on Saturn.... what the hell does this have to do with anniversary released guitars? Me thinks you mixed your threads up... two too many mixed drinks last night or this morning?

If I don't play, they go is what I work at doing. I was thinking about the lowest number I guess to keep. Will look over really close & play both and just keep the best one unless they are the same. Oh, I wish you hadn't a said anything about rosewood on your guitar djroge!!! I had all the rosewood fretboards taken off any thing that I had and replaced it with formica (rosewood colored that is) just to avoid any problems with the vigilantes at F&W dept. Kinda hard to keep from stretching a note when you play now, but one must be ecologically sensitive you know! I'd suggest you do the same pronto. I've heard tell, you also have to plant the removed fretboards in a park or preserve to avoid any repercussions. And concerning Saturn, I've been watching Jupiter up in the morning with the moon with the telescope. Saturn ain't up yet to see till about Jan in the early morn. (woops, what's that got to do with my Casino either). Aster Here is one of them. Man, I'd better get things clean up in the living room b.f. my wife gets home. She thinks I have too many guitars already so I try not to have more than one-two out on the floor at a time.
lespaulj45
I do not buy into the "relic" reissue thing at all-the fact remains that the woods used in the originals were far more selective in the old days and as the raw materials get more expensive to procure, the prices have just gotten out of control. I own a real SG from the old days and a Les Paul and a J45 acoustic from the 2006 model year-both the LP and J45 are the best sounding guitars with the right neck dims, and I cherish both guitars. The LP weighs 9.5 lbs and it is the real deal. The J45 has the best tone and sound of any acoustic I have ever owned and I will keep both guitars forever. I played every J45 that the shop had in stock and the one I bought had the best sound of all of them-some of which were double the price of the one I bought. Do some shopping and buy the one that fits both your style and ear and you wont be disappointed! Another tip is string em up with a string of your choosing-wow! what a diff on the J45! Happy shopping!

I actually have a Epi Casino Elitist story with a Guitar and a s/n with 666. Kind of a "tempting" story in several ways. Long story but I overcame the "temptation" and it went back.
