marvar Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I got to run monitors for Leon about 10 yrs ago- It was so cool, he had just had both hips replaced, and was walking with canes, anyway, he come rambling up the stage, sits down at his keyboard, and then just burned the place down, it was amazing- and, he was solo! had all the backup parts midi'd It was just a mind-blowing experience.

L5Larry Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Leon's a great songwriter, and many of his songs lend themselves for varied interpretations. You might remember these two (one mentioned above). He's probably still living off the songwriter royalties from the sales of these two records.
FirstMeasure Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuqFHc5ewlQ He's a couple more Leon penned hits. Multifaceted would be an understatement.
FirstMeasure Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Some playful Leon to lighten some moods. I really wish someone would take some of this old Leon footage and remaster it.
Jon S. Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 CB Very cool!! That's a pretty decent backup band too!!
jaxson50 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Leon is just great, my two favs I was going to say Stranger in a strange land but its been posted so this is my second-second best; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5vE16LDeIo&feature=related
FirstMeasure Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Very cool!! That's a pretty decent backup band too!! Yeah, he always seems to be surrounded by greatness Leon is just great, my two favs I was going to say Stranger in a strange land but its been posted so this is my second-second best; I've always been fond of Hummingbird. BB King does a pretty good version of it, too.
DanvillRob Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Amazin' just how many great songs he's had..... Great post!
FirstMeasure Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Danville, He never ceases to amaze me. Front man, side man, song writer, interpreter, I don't think there's anything he hasn't done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1gUfCIaDvA He even played a Les Paul complete with Top Hat
jaxson50 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 A lot of great artist came out of The Wrecking Crew. By the time Leon did his first solo record he had been on many hits and was well known in the industry. The few times I saw his shows he never failed to just rock the house. He played on Glenn Campbells Gentle On My Mind under the name "Russell Bridges".

Reminds me that it happens to the best. Plus I could listen to Claudia Lenear sing this back up all night long.
