pippy
I'm going to make it a duo for Paul Kossoff. After I'd heard Hendrix on vynyl (in 1971, a bit too late....) Koss was the first guy I thought "Yes!!! THAT'S IT!!!!! I still remember being in shock in form class at school when my best mate and fellow Free fan told me he'd heard on the radio, that morning, of P.K.'s death. No-one could understand our slowness that day in class (I was 16 but felt 100).

SRV-Zeppelin
He may not be Slash, but he writes some really cool guitar parts that make his songs as good as they are. (eg. "Them Kids" and "Brother Down")

saturn
I'll add Buck Dharma of B.O.C. and Brian "Damage" Forsythe of KIX. I know most people only know KIX as a late 80s hair band, but they were playing around the Baltimore area since like 1981 and were probably the best bar band in the world. No exagerating. I'll put their debut album KIX up against any hard rock/hair metal for pure guitar tone, great playing and awsome party songs anytime.
rossington88
Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd (The greatist American Band of all time [They wrote SWEET HOME ALABAMA and FREEBIRD]) If you can listen to One in the Sun and not like it, I'll show you a green dog... brundaddy
Have to agree about Elliot Easton & Steve Cropper! 2 guys whose rhythm, melodies, and solos rip -- and always serve the songs sooo perfectly. Personally, I'm more drawn in by the gunboat than the showboat.
