Mine is my Casino Elitist.

Parabar, tell me about that Broadway as I find it to be really interesting. What do you like the most about it & what style music do you play on it?

Aster

I love everything about it --- how it feels, how it sounds, how it looks. I play a mixture of styles --- jazz, funk, reggae, blues, rock, Latin (mostly originals), and the Broadway has the full-throated resonant sound that only a big hollow body can get. The neck is perfect, and the ebony fingerboard feels great. In all seriousness, my Elitist Broadway beats several Gibson L-5's I've played for tone and feel.

My "ideal" tone came from two players that influenced me a lot as I was growing up --- Terry Haggerty of the Sons of Champlin and Jerry Miller of Moby Grape, both of whom played Gibson L-5's when I first heard them. The mixture of jazz chops and rock tone became a part of my musical DNA, and the Broadway does it beautifully.

I have a 2009-10 Les Paul 1960 Tribute and a 2012 ES-339. The Tribute is all stock. I just recently picked it up used at the local Guitar Center for $350 and I love it. I am truly amazed (and surprised) with it's quality. It looks good (almost as if it was hardly ever played), it feels good, it sounds great, it plays great. IMO it rivals any of the Gibson Les Paul's that I currently own or have owned in the past. I enjoy the ES-339 too. I have Gibson '57 Classics in it, a bone nut, and a great setup. It sounds good and plays great, but does not feel as good to me (feels a little on the cheap side) as the Tribute.

Well, the search is over. Kept watching Craigslist (where some people must think their guitars are made out of gold, or at least gold plated) and GC's site. GC listed a used Nighthawk in trans black for $250 on Friday. Called Saturday to discuss it, worked a deal, and put up a bank card to hold it. Went to the local GC Sun. morning, paid cash out of my "guitar fund" (defined as $ stashed away a little at a time just in case of a bout of GAS - helps avoid the inevitable "why do you need another guitar" question) and it will be here in a few days. Anxious to get it. This was better than any deal I found on Craiglist because it was as cheap as any I found on CL and I have 45 days to return it if I don't like it for any reason. Zero risk of buying a dog. I keep asking myself, "what will it do that my Genesis won't", and the answer may be "nothing!". But I couldn't resist giving it a try with the single coil in the middle, the longer neck, etc. And then, maybe it's just that I like guitars that are different, don't want to break the bank buying expensive guitar, and love the two Epi's I already have.

I agree! I'm generally not into "sunburst" finish guitars, but there is something beautiful about the simplicity of your Emporer.

Not fair making me choose between my babies. That said, the Les Paul Tribute Plus is a shining star in the family.

I also recently "rediscovered" my little sleeper, the WildKat. The poor little fella's been overlooked for a while

in favor or a few new family members but, he's back in steady rotation now.

Well, my answer may have changed. Picked up my used Nighthawk from GC today (that's a whole story in itself) and have been playing it a bunch this evening. I don't know if the lousy setup came from the factory or if the previous owner did it, but either way, since I bought it used from GC I expected the setup to be decent. Not even close. The intonation is terrible, the action is way to high, both things I can tweak myself. On the plus side, I got a trans black quilt one for $150 below what they're retailing for at GC now. It has a couple of very minor scratches on the back, one very small ding on the neck, but the front looks like new. In fact it still had the protective plastic on the pickups. I absolutely love how light it is. Compared to my Genesis it feels like it weighs half as much. I know it's not, but the difference is amazing. Sound, I love all the tones I can get just by moving the 5-way switch. No need to play with the tone knobs constantly. And I love how easy it is to get to the upper frets since the body is at least 3/4" thinner. Tomorrow I am going to do a setup on it and see how it feels then. Assuming I don't run into any weird issues there I think I may have a new favorite guitar.
