  1. I would experiment with strings and (assuming you use them) picks before I took it apart. Older strings,, thicker pick, etc. And I wouldn't bring it to the luthier who is anti-Gibson. But you certainly can expect, all other things being equal, that changing the bridge will affect the sound. Probably in the direction you seem to be looking to go.
  2. Been called a half dozen times. Picked 3, but one of those, the accused pled out as we were being brought to the courtroom. Other 2 - one was a DUI and the other a railroad employee suing the railroad for a hairline fracture of his heel which he allegedly suffered in a fall 10 years earlier. We found the RR was half guilty and he was half guilty as well. Many on the jury wanted to give him a half million - sort of justified because 'insurance will pay for it'. It took a few hours to get those fine folks to realize that 'fairness' didn't mean creating lottery winners. They realized that, without any evidence of the plaintiff ever being inconvenienced or in pain - a more just award would be $5K. RCT - you are a scholar and a gentleman. The jury system is key to our justice system. If I were wrongly accused, I would want 12 honest men deciding my fate. Hopefully of at least 'average intelligence' !
  3. Big Red + Tequila. A really big hit here. The soda is also used as a secret ingredient in BBQ sauce. Invented in Waco, as was Dr. Pepper.
  4. I drive a Ford, not a Caddy.
  5. Martin is the Cadillac of Guitar makers...
  6. Having actually BEEN there, I think their food is excellent. Never heard of "Chicken Shack". We've had places open up to outrageously long line, backing up onto the freeway Krispy Kreme, In & Out Burgers, and after a few weeks the lines disappeared. Chik Fil A - the lines after years are still very long at lunch and dinner time. Cars backed up 10 deep three across. So, I have to believe it's not just faddish. Our (international) airport - the manager wanted to open up a Chik Fil A store and the Mayor issued an edict blocking it. Went to court and he lost. Now he's trying to find other ways to block it. Same thing happened in NYC. Amusing.
  7. Martin does the same thing, It's called "Marketing" : https://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/custom-special-editions/D-42-Purple-Martin.html
  8. Let's face it, we're all a little cra cra: Some of us go around the bend and come back eventually. Some just keep going. I don't think, simply because someone starts a thread, he has 'parental rights', Ghost. It's only the boring "What strings do you use on your J45?" threads that don't get taken in a different direction. JVI sort of opened up his 'Happy Father's Day' best wishes - when he decided to divert it to " or even a "be good to everyone day". I, for one, threw up in my mouth a little. But our good Chief Pepper, naturally thought of Jenn when it came to Father's Day wishes. Selma came next I think. I was going to suggest Sheryl Crow, but didn't want to muddy the water with Gibson Acoustic references.
  9. For my first 10 years of (Drinking) life - Scotch and Grapefruit Juice were like mother's milk to me. The only thing, other than beer I drank. Never had a bartender who thought it unusual. They got the grapefruit juice out of those little cans. Not sure I'd have stuck with it so long if it were unhealthy - 'carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, sodium benzoate...." I suppose there's a Squirt of grapefruit juice in there somewhere....
  10. I guess I fell off the sled at the top of the hill. I didn't realize this was a brand, spanking new electric Gibson. I'll take "Flaky, Cracked Nuts" for $300, Alex."
  11. Aaaah, yes. Vernors is in a different class for sure. Too good, even, to mix with bourbon.
  12. Surprised JA doesn't have a Restraining Order out in your name yet. Your consistency is commendable, bordering on ...
  13. I was going to post something about Dr. Seuss ... but that's political now too.
  14. First it was "Ginger or MaryAnn?" Now it's "Sophia or Selma?"
  15. The old brown, chip-board, simulated aligator case, with the broken plastic handle I got with my '64 LG1 must be worth a small fortune.
  16. Merci- yes. The love we get to see in our kids eyes on this day is the best gift of all. Adopted, biological, fostered - they are all our children if we are truly their fathers. My oldest son took me out with his family to the lake. Anchored and our middle son pulled up in his boat with his family. Drank beer (they prefer those fruity seltzers) and floated on various types of floaties for 3 hours.
  17. Looks like what BKahune said. Impact on the nut caused the nitro to start flaking. No 'cracked nut'. Score around the edge of the damage and lightly sand with ultra fine sandpaper.
  18. Yep. Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Step Fathers Day, Step Mothers Day. Foster Mother, Foster Father... Uncles and Aunties ? Maybe we should just have a "Modern Family Month" ?
  19. JOLT ⚡COLA ... double the caffeine. (Pre-cursor to Coca-Cola's new Cola&Coffee energy drinks. Various Flavors, of course. )
  20. BruceB gets the Funniest Post of the Day !
  21. I don't even play the drums and I have a box of 12 Drumsticks in the freezer.
  22. Rabs, that's some beautiful wood. It is already a work of art ... Congrats on your new project !
  23. I prefer Mango/Strawberry/Pineapple flavored IPA over Coke. (Tip of the Hat to DR.Pepper (( oh, the irony)) ). And I'd only use Coke to clean my paint brushes. (Plagiarized from RbSinTo - also from the Bourbon thread). Pepsi Please.
  24. Thanks Pohatu - this is a very important point. Part of Gibson's 'mystique' is simply being inconsistent.
