  1. Thanks. Yes, it is. And for under a thousand bucks, too!
  2. I cannot believe I am saying this but I think it is the best bass I have ever owned. Have had it about 6 months now. I also have had a Ric 4003, American Vintage Pbass, blue flower PBass, and a Guild Starfire bass. It is punchier and has more clarity, kick, and power than any of them. No dead spots. Breezy play from the short scale. I am shocked because the last Gibson Bass I tried was atrocious (2011 SG Bass). No amount of money or mods I threw at it could change the horrible tone (absolutely no presence and kick, and sound muffled and dead and like you are playing thru a chorus pedal, or did I have a lemon?). I had been looking for another short scale bass, as my left hand doesn't like long scales anymore, and I saw the LPTDC basses and thought they looked beautiful. So back in Dec 2019 I gave one a try in a shop and was happily surprised. I got one a couple weeks later in worn brown. Only mods I have done are shielding the cavity to make it noiseless and to replace the three point bridge with the Hipshot (just for low E string intonation correction purposes). That is less mods needed than on any of my other basses. The LPTDC comes with lotsa nice features, too like the ultra light tuners, single coil/humbucker option push pull pot, and nice worn brown finish. The maple neck gives the back of the neck a tiger stripe look through the finish. The bass has a great sound and could be used for any style music. It kind of sounds like a cross between a Pbass and a 4003. But, as I said, punchier, clearer, and bigger tone than either, imho. Only downside is it was originally a little neck heavy, but the combo of the Hipshot bridge weight, and cantilevering effect of dunlop strap locks, with a stickier strap, and replacing plastic control knobs with heavier chrome dome knobs added enough weight and cantilevering to offset that. I'd post pics but page rejects and tells me I can only post 378kB of pics. Anyway, these are fantastic basses for less than $1kUSD What has your experience been with yours?
  3. Did someone replace the neck with a non-Gibson neck? shouldnt the headstock serial matchbthe serial on the sticker in the body? Also, some of the trap inlays look off center. Not an expert, just guessing.
  4. Pic is blurry. Cannot tell if that is a gap or just dried polishing compound. What happens if you scratch at it with a fingernail?
  5. When you are famous everyone will want one just like yours.
  6. So who makes guit straps in the UK? maybe Brooks Cycling saddle co will start.
  7. Are the pole pieces on the side of the pup edge that is closest to bridge? if so try rotating the pup and remount so the pup sits with pole pieces away from bridge.
  8. I considered the Babciz too but preferred the looks of the Hipshot and the fact that it is logo-less, unlike the Babciz Also I had a Supertone years ago and remembered how nice it was.
  9. Glad to help. the Hipshot came with two sets of bolts. One set worked perfectly. Yes, I needed four M8 stainless washers (2 per side) for filling the cutout circular recesses on the underside of the bridge where the mounting holes are, that way the bushings from the bass body won't risk getting pulled up and into those recesses and they will have a flat surface to contact when tightening down the mounting bolts. Double check the ones you buy will give you the stack height you need. But two per side worked for mine.
  10. I put a chrome Hipshot 3 point replacement supertone on my LPDCTRibute Bass in worn brown. It is worth it in my opinion. But there is a workaround for the stock bridge (see below). Easy installation. But buy some metric stainless washers (2 per side, iirc) to put in the voids under the bridge where the bolts pass thru so you give the bass face bushings something solid to push against when you tighten the bolts down. Don't overdo it. Without metric washers in the voids under the bridge where bolts come out, they can cause a push/pull situation and pull the bushings out of the face on the bass upon overtightening. I read about this ahead of time and installed my own washers for this and so far so good. Benefits of the Supertone as far as I can tell: 1. Helped with weight distribution to reduce neck dive, along with a stickier strap and dunlop strap buttons virtually eliminated neck dive. 2. Still sounds the same to my ears. These basses sound fantastically powerful and bright. Like a cross between a Pbass and a Rickenbacker bass. The Supertone didn't change that to my ears, which I was happy about. 3. Adjustments all around waaaay easier and more precise. Has an extra feature of ability to adjust string spacing. 4. Solves the problems of the string windings/silks laying on bridge saddles on the stock Gibson bridge. With the hipshot one can intonate the low E string and the windings don't overlay the saddles. Problem solved. 5. Looks fantastic on the bass. Throw on some chrome dome volume/tone knobs to match. 6. Nothing falls off the bridge when you change strings like the stock Gibson bridge parts do. Drawbacks: 1. None so far. Room for improvement on the Supertone: 1. I wish they put wider notched roller pieces in the low A and E saddles so the strings would sit deeper in the grooves. Does this matter? I don;t think so but I am just nitpicking. 2. Get rid of the voids around where the bolts exit the bottom of the bridge so one doesn;t have to put washers in there to fill the voids. Gibson bridge and workaround: The stock Gibson bridge isn;t bad in itself. Just the intonation adjustments not as easy, but not really a big deal. Falling apart upon string changes isn;t that big of a deal either. It is easy enough. It sounds great. Looks great, But if you don;t like the solks laying over the saddles, then you can google around and find a "mod bar" which is a cylinrical bar with 4 holes in it that the strings can be strung thru and then it sits up tight against the end of the bridge to move the ball ends further back to get the talking part of the string to lay over the saddles instead of the silks.
  11. I’d do two cts volumes and two tonestylers. No caps needed.
  12. Tge explanation in the LA tymes explains it as more lax than that.
  13. What make and model is it? how much does it weigh? i need one oops i see the info above
