  1. It's a delightful 50 degrees tonight in Yellowstone. Wonderful. rct
  2. You can call it whatever you want, there is no grading standard for tops. rct
  3. People who make money making music trying to make money making music. What is this world coming to? rct
  4. The fans will sit through anything to get to the hits, that's how fans are. Shoulda kept Robin. rct
  5. I haven't and wouldn't shim a nut. New nut, I'll explain it to the customer later. rct
  6. Capo the first fret, press the low E down at the last full fret. Should be .010" between top of 8th fret and bottom of low E string. Capo off, 4/64" from the top of the 17th fret to the bottom of each string, close enough to follow the radius, that's how and where you set string height. Intonate it. It should play well all over the neck after you do these things. It should be well intonated after you do these things. If it isn't, you own a partscaster, so anything you have to do is just throwing good money after decent money. 99.98 out of 100 guitars, probably considerably more, don't have nickels under the saddles. This isn't a "normal" situation that needs a little compensation. Good luck with it. rct
  7. Another Fishman LoudBox user. I recommend them. rct
  8. Yeah, but Nita Strauss has also done some pretty good stuff with Demi Lovato these last couple years. That and the fact that Nita doesn't use amps of any kind live or in the studio, so no tube cred for her, should help re-invigorate the hate! rct
  9. Many of us are of a time when there was no "guitar culture". We weren't staring at our phones all day, browsing our tablets, surfing our laptops all night. We didn't consume all possible internet knowledge every day. We played the guitar, most of us in bands, most of us trying to make a living at it and in my case failing and having to keep a job. But out every weekend with a guitar if possible. It's not the same as owning guitars and blabbing about them all day on the internet, so it is quite possible and normal for lots of guitar players of a certain generation to not have heard of lots of other guitar players. rct
  10. I wouldn't count on liking a guitar because the color changed over time. Especially a 2022 guitar. rct
  11. "Hey everyone, I found this Les Paul on craigslist for $650, but I don't believe it's real. What do you guys think???" "Hey everyone, I found this replica Les Paul on craigslist but I think it might be real. What do you guys think???" Jesus H Smack my effing Head Christ on a stick they will sell guitars to anyone. rct
  12. Punk was a style, a fashion statement, an outwardly visible commitment to some "I'ma badass" kind of life. The music was just another Pop. Same as it ever was, with all popular music. rct
  13. God dam I laughed. Hard. rct
  14. The song context and content are first for me. What is this about and who do I hear doing it best. After that is title of the song. By that time it is pretty much fully formed and I know what I want for the most part. I program the drums and put them down. Next is some combination back and forth of getting the rhythm guitar and bass down. Some keys after that. Vocs after that. Guitar solos, ins, outs, stuff like that. Finally, any more keyboards I want drizzled on it. Done. I'm not at all selling recordings, and I never will that I can see. It is the song I am selling, buyer can do what they want with it. rct
  15. It all went to hell when they stopped the black and white Quasars I tell ya. rct
  16. I retired in 2019. I saw a co-worker at the grocery store the other day, a lady I had worked with for more than 25 years. Could NOT, for the life of me, remember her name. Mrs retired February of last year. It has been the best year and a half we've had, and we've been together for more than 45 years now. rct
  17. I have had two of these for a lot of years now. Outstanding. Checked with Mrs, about 10 years. rct
  18. Certainly can be, especially on a Gibson. That's very often a seam crack in the blank so yeah, it can make that bottom piece fall off. I know, everyone is going to say NO WAY NEVER HEARD OF THAT BULLSH1T but it's about the same chance as a headstock crack/break. rct
  19. It's a lot like Lea & Perrins. Add a dash of catsup and a squeeze of tomato paste to Lea & Perrins and BAM! HP Sauce. rct
  20. That's all vintage guitar market ever really was. That's what got the prices so effing stupid 25 years ago. rct
  21. We used to spend a week at Philly Phall. It was a hoot. rct
  22. Yeah they were. Used to hook up with 20 or so usenet newsgroup guitar players from all over. We had a ball back then. rct
