    Bargain!

The internet was becoming more and more a thing. There were "modders", guys you sent your pedals to and they tweaked them and sent them back, you now had a Fuller modded blah blah blah. There were a few boutique amp makers getting known because of the internet like Roccaforte and Mark Sampson. Klon was just another boutique pedal that gained a cult. They were 800, a thousand maybe, back then. Stupid money for a pedal that most of us thought didn't really do anything. It's funny about all that money to step on it. I remember many nights at a bar called JD's in Smithville NJ. A guy we knew in a great band used a Charvel/Jackson guitar into an old Traynor. Up on a table he had two(2) Klons. He operated them by hand. He also changed the batteries in both every set. Every night out he did this. Crazy. rct
  2. Well that's different. I only did it one time, I put a cd player in one of our Crown Vics, the 2001. Truly, it sucked. I should have never done it myself but there it is. In those days anyone would put them in, not like today. I wouldn't even know where to go to do that. Good luck with it. And don't worry about your music. You know enough to get the mixes pretty dang good without the cd player. rct
  3. Dude. Try to focus. You don't have the market cornered on getting music out to a mastering house. You aren't the only guy in your town probably that is checking mixes on various systems/speaker types. I've got six pairs of monitors and two subs. I also use two junk stage monitors that the band doesn't use any longer, and yeah, they are good to listen to a mix through. That's all just in the room for me. I know all about this stuff, same as you. This all started because you are screaming at the sky about no cd players in cars. From you: phone, Spotify, iTunes, car CD Player, Computer, Turntable sound system. That's from you. CD IS 2.6% OF MUSIC SALES. You want to check mixes on a system you can't get, the car CD player. So you can't get one to check mixes on so you can make sure that EVERYONE ELSE THAT CAN'T GET ONE gets a good mix. Do I have that right? YOU DON'T NEED A FRIGGIN CD PLAYER TO PLAY MUSIC ON CAR STEREO SPEAKERS. Period. That's the thread. Holy crap. Do you put your band videos on High Def Beta Max and watch them on the Quasar black & white 13"? rct
  4. Old school Rancilio Rocky grinder and Rancilio Sylvia single pull 'spresso maker. 20 plus years of 6, 8 drinks a week, still going. rct
  5. The people buying your music don't care what DAW you used, how many hertz you recorded it at, nor how you monitored the playback for mixing purposes. They don't know mp3 from wav from 45rpm. It sounds good or it doesn't, they like it or they don't. They have a vast universe of music to buy that didn't require a pickup truck CD player to get mixed well. rct
  6. Advertised sales. They have minimum advertised prices. rct
  7. Do you think that CDs accounting for only 2.6% of music sales may have something to do with it? Maybe? If you sell a million records and only 26,000 are CDs, are you going to much care about how those 26,000 people play them? rct

    Klon. lolz. rct
  9. That was from their first record Out Of The Silent Planet, a really good one followed by Gretchen Goes To Nebraska. Fantastic band, two superb records in a row. Those last couple summers of the 80's we were just back from Bermuda and living in OCNJ and dinner on the hibachi every night with these two records on the hi-fi. Good effing times. rct
  10. Mods must be vacationing in Cancun with that Cruze wee todd. rct
  11. Sing Goldilox loud. Still the first thing I play when I pick up a guitar. rct
  12. Politics and Bill Cosby. It's a moderators dream! rct
  13. lolz. I don't much like it up there, but it is part of the state so we do what we have to do up there when we have to do it. When he is there the crowd in that place can be heard on the moon. rct
  14. 1973 bro. 1973. It is ours, we own that. When he does this up at the Meadowlands you can hear it all the way down here at AC. There is no other song for this day, here. rct
  15. I get it, I really do. 24k or nothing, that's what they want. -18k or it's not masterable, all that stuff. I get it, I really do, and I feel for you. But the CD player is nothing. It means absolutely nothing because you can, like it or not, get the music into the car. Rock on brutha, just do it the new way. Look at me. Sixty effing three years old and SD card'n it and phone'n it into the car and all that. You just have to do it is all, and I know you can. You wouldn't write the posts you do if you couldn't. rct
  16. There are plenty here in a similar situation. You are conflating the need to check mixes in the car with the need for a cd player. In 1984 CDs accounted for 2.4% of recorded music sales. In 2022 it was 2.6%. The way people take delivery of music has changed, just like it did with 33.3rpms and 8trax and cassettes. The car companies know what's up, the music distribution chain knows what's up, the consumer knows what's up. rct
  17. I'm the same. We put the music on phone or iPad and bluetooth it over to the new radios. It works, just takes getting used to. In the studio I use a pair of chintzy little TASCAM VLX something or other monitors, very thin little things with a sub. They are pretty close to car speakers. Can never have too many monitors available. rct
  18. They look like a metric tonne of fun. rct
  19. In all aspects of life people just do what they did yesterday, and the only thing different is the reason we are using today for just doing what we did yesterday. Tomorrow, we'll come up with a different reason. It's why nothing changes, no matter how much it needs to. Guitars are nothing in the overall schema, but a good example. rct
  20. I have a micarta board'd American 000-16 and an ebony board'd M-36. They are not the same. rct

    Solstice

We would agree, a nice area, and one we've considered. Quite a few things will keep us here, it is just what it is. rct
