  1. When buying a Guitar I want the whole package. Materials, Craftsmanship, Looks, QC, Sound & Playability. Otherwise, over time, the magic wears off & it ends up living in its Case... Then I sell it & get something better.. If you don’t totally love it don’t keep it.... Get something better..
  2. If you bought it new & think it’s a defect you should call Gibson Factory Customer Service & file a Warranty Claim for Repair or Replacement..
  3. That is a nice model of Guitar but It is a Standard not Custom Shop. How it plays & sounds would be my criteria for that Price point Guitar..
  4. If you mean one side is raised uneven with the other that is not normal... Not in my experience with long term ownership of many Gibsons & Epiphones.
  5. There are so many Les Pauls! What are you looking for in a Guitar with regard to Specs?
  6. I really like that Guitar in Red! Would look great with a Gold Bigsby too!
  7. That looks like my V. I really like the Sound of the mini HB’s. Somewhere between P90’s & HB’s.. Totally unique & great Sound! The Steinbergers tune perfect on the dime & hold tuning really well...
  8. If you liked the Studio you should contact Gibson & get a referral to one of their Gold Star, or whatever they call them now, Luthiers & have it repaired.. Ask to see some of their Work & refererences of people who had their Guitars Repairedby them if possible... If you really like the Guitar you might consider having Gibson repair it or have a new Neck installed by them.. Pricey but it’ll be right & they'll back up their work.. Meanwhile buy another Guitar.. If you’re a working Musician, in normal times, you need at least a couple back ups.. I have at least 2 of my most played Guitars because you never know what can happen...
  9. I like all kinds of colors.. But, I have to say I like Sunbursts the most.. There are no 2 exactly alike. There are so many different Sunbursts.. Given it’s the Model you’re looking for or even if it sometimes isn’t when you see the one, you know there’s a very good chance it’s coming home with you if it passes all the tests..
  10. They can sound different if they all have different Pickups. The Necks can vary in dimension & shape, as well as the Frets, Nuts, Tuners & Bridges... Even if they’re the same model with same specs they can play, feel, look & sound different..
  11. So that if your Guitar Strap slips & you drop the Guitar the Jack doesn’t go through your Guitar.. Which happened to me at a Gig playing a J-160E.. It really sucked! It was unplayable. A Hole in the Guitar, cracked the Wood & needed a costly repair...
  12. I’ve recently watched 2 movies that I really liked.. Both with Jack Nicholson.. Chinatown & the Sequal, The Two Jakes... Great Gumshoe Detective movies..
  13. They’re not equal to a real USA Martin... That said, I have played some good older Sigmas.. They’re aren’t equivalent to my USA Martins though but they were pretty good... I can’t say I’ve ever played an MIM Martin I liked...
  14. I used to own a 1959 ES345 with original PAF’s that looked like yours.. In retrospect it was the best sounding Guitar I’ve ever played or owned.. I was offered too much $$$ & sold it... Congrats on yours! It’s a beauty!
  15. I would probably go for the more traditional spec 2005 Dot.. Unless I was going to put a Bigsby on then I’d go for the one with the Trapeze Tailpiece.. In either case I’d want the one in the best condition, that plays the best & sounds the best.. There’s only one way to judge that.. I’d have to play them both..
  16. I haven’t done this but would bet Wildwood would’ve a good choice..
  17. The Mexican made Martins are nowhere near as good as the old Sigmas.. But neither are as good as USA made Martins.
  18. He’s still alive, plays masterfully, is a Hot Rodder & does a lot of the wrench turning on them.... You should check out some of his recent Ronnie Scott Concerts on YouTube...
  19. I have 4 Epi’s with P90’s... 1 with Asian P90’s & 3 with Gibson USA P90’s... The 3 with USA P90’s are far better sounding IMO. The Asian P90’s are more harsh & hard on the Ears.. I’m going to change them to Fralin P90’s which sound very close to the Gibson USA P90’s...
  20. I can almost imagine Franklin, Jefferson, Washington & Adams (Cool Band name) with Guitars strapped on in Rock poses.... LOL
  21. It’s hard to know if these kinds of Shows are Fact or Fiction.. They’re biographical stories. Usually the truth is stranger than Fiction & much of that is never told....
  22. My personal choice is & have been for years are Martin, Gibson, Guild & Harmony... They are the Bar. I don’t get the interest in Taylor’s They ain’t got no soul... I do get the interest in Collings... They got mucho soul!
  23. Comparing Gibson & Martin Acoustics is like comparing Gibson & Fender Electrics... Both make the greatest Guitars.. Yet they are very different.. My Acoustic Martins sound nothing like my Acoustic Gibsons.... I’m happy they both exist, are different sounding Guitars & love playing them.... The same is true of my Electric Gibsons & Fenders.....
  24. Bring back the ES Les Paul Gold Top with P90’s & Bigsby.... Reasonably Priced.
