  1. My wife and I have tickets to see Sweet Baby James at the Orion Amphitheater this evening. I clicked on their website this morning to look at the show start time and everything, and realized the show was postponed until 22 August. A little more digging around on the inter-webs, and I found out why. https://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/Music/2023/06/20/James-Taylor-postpones-shows-laryngitis/5741687266852/ Rest well, Mr. Taylor. We look forward to seeing you in late summer. Get better sir. ๐Ÿฅฒ
  2. Man. I feel like I need to step up my game now. ๐Ÿค”
  3. Whenever I performed with my SG, I tied colorful helium balloons to the top E string tuning peg. Neck dive instantly solved. It was both festive and functional. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  4. If you haven't seen Sound City (from 2013), a documentary by Dave Grohl on the history of the legendary recording studio in Van Nuys, California. It's really good. ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. Eagle Rock rocks, man!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  6. I know that forum rules prohibit my posting any derogatory comments toward another poster, so I'll be delicate here. We have a recently-joined forum member whose stage name rhymes with 'Flogoz' or maybe 'Trogoz'. His avatar is like this; This person doesn't post spam in his replies to your comments. Rather, he 'Quotes' you, and embeds his spam links into YOUR earlier reply. This is very crafty. Sneaky even. PLEASE be warned. Don't click on any links contained in his embedded messages. Until the moderators take care of this person, please just be careful. ๐Ÿค”
  7. The last five years of my first marriage were horror enough for me. I swore them off after that. ๐Ÿคจ
  8. And then, Captain Sully landed the airliner on the river! Amazing luck, and no small amount of skill, I am sure. ๐Ÿ™‚
  9. Heh. It's just me putting 20 years of Microsoft PowerPoint skills to artistic use, and using whatever imported images I could steal. I would love to learn foto-shop someday though. ๐Ÿซ
  10. I waited a week already. Is it just me, or does Canadian Smoke sound like vintage jazz music? Okay, I'm gonna shut up now. ๐Ÿ˜”
  11. There are dozens and dozens of models of Gibson ES-335's. And only a handful for the Duesenberg. You might wish to narrow the field a bit. Or is this just a general, spiritual, philosophical question? In which case, I choose neither. None of them do much for me, quite honestly. ๐Ÿ™‚
  12. I dated a girl for awhile who had one leg shorter than the other. Her name was Eileen.
  13. A good and warm tribute to a good friend and band-mate. Best wishes. ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. I have been through my share of them. A nice Godin 5th Avenue thingie, and a few Ibanez's to be exact. Every time I went into it needing that guitar, only to turn around and sell them. Well. One of them I sent to the brother of a beloved band mate who had passed away. I wanted his brother to have something that his sibling had touched and played. This was that one. The blue beastie. She's in good hands now. ๐Ÿ˜ถ
  15. Sammin, Do you have a friend or compatriot who can press down on the name plate while you play the guitar? If the buzzing sound goes away, that's definitely it. And if so, a small dab of any good craft glue should hold it in place and eliminate the buzzing sounds. ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. The family that 'Rays together, stays together!! ๐Ÿ˜€
  17. Years ago, we were having band practice at Bob the drummer's house. Not too far into warm up and tune up, I realized I had a problem; My old tube amp, a Tubeworks TD-752 Tube Driver (100 watt, 1x12 combo amp) had picked up a vexing, steady clicking noise. It was distracting. So I walked around Bob's house, turning off and turning on lights, lamps, fluorescent overheads, you name it. Bathroom ventilation fans, on and off. Tried a different wall plug, and a 110 strip with a surge protector. Nothing I did or investigated seemed to make the problem go away. Finally, I asked Bob if I could unplug his wireless internet router. "Sure, I won't need it during practice. Go ahead." Unplugged it, and bingo bango, the clicking noise went away. Problem solved. After an hour of practice, we heard a bit of an angry shout from upstairs. Bob's grown son (recently arrived from Germany) had been sleeping in, and now was up and about. And was not happy. Bob grinned. "Heh. Lucas can't get on the internet and watch his morning porno. Too bad!!" Eh. It was funny. I guess you had to be there. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  18. Okay then sir. I stand corrected. And thanks for clarifying. But thank God things have gotten better in this country, and we don't have any such political nonsense going on from our federal law enforcement agencies anymore. ๐Ÿ˜€
  19. Looks great to me. And for the record, Gibson wasn't raided over illegal rosewood. They were the victims of an unjust political vendetta, plain and simple. Anybody who argues otherwise is being naive. ๐Ÿคจ
  20. It is a great design, and it was an elegant, wonderful jazz guitar. In the end, I think it was above my station. I wasn't in her league. That guitar was better than me, physically and spiritually, I think. I bought it used two years ago, while in New Hampshire. My brothers and I were up there because our sister Margaret was dying of cancer, and though the end date was uncertain, we wanted to be there with her and her family. After a day or two up there, spending time with our sister and her family, it didn't seem right to visit her in her room without a guitar in my hands. (We used to sit around over the years before, she and I, singing and harmonizing.) I brought the Ibanez into her house, and spent more than a few hours and days just sitting with her and singing to her. I have no idea if she even knew we were there. The cancer had spread from lungs to here and there and brain, and so, it was uncertain. We found a Catholic Priest one afternoon when it seemed like the end was near, and I must say that Father Ray did a great job. The prayers and incantation brought Margaret peace, and even the most atheist and agnostic of her kids agreed that it was a lovely and perfect evening. She died an hour after the Father drove away. I brought the guitar home with me a few days later, and I must confess that the thought of recording with and and maybe carrying it to gigs just seems like a sacrilege. I'm sure that sounds stupid. But it had a time and place, and a very elegant purpose, and then it was time for the guitar to go where she could serve some other family and mission. Rest in peace, all good sisters and mothers. ๐Ÿ˜” https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/margaret-garrett-obituary?id=17777637
  21. I liked Mary Ford. She was a a rare talent, with a lot of problems. Like all of my women who have come and gone, now that I think on it. ๐Ÿคซ
