  1. Almost all current Epiphones have binding on the neck, my cherry G400 also has a neck blinding that looks like wood but isn't. I will check my Wilshire tomorrow when it gets here. Not a good shot for the neck binding, but it does look just like yours.. Another image from the web, this really does look like a binding, which would be quite normal for Epiphone, specially when you zoom in.
  2. Retailers usually have a stock of used trade-in's, as well as older year models that didn't sell but still considered new. Watch online sellers like eBay or Craigslist or whatever you have in your area.
  3. Good link to the legacy archive Steve, the 2018 SG Standard looks like it has the longer tenon with the tapered neck, giving you improved balance and a stronger neck.
  4. Got no snakes here, except an occasional illegal alien. we do have many varieties of lizards, mostly Anole's, Gekko's and Skink's.
  5. He was a good poet, I attended one of his concerts in Nuremberg in1970, it was an exceptional show..
  6. from GuitarInsite Serial number: CS91410 Production year: 2001 or 2011 (sequence number: 410) (Custom Shop) Manufactured in Nashville
  7. Girl by Marc Bolan on Electric Warrior
  8. Thats possible and stiffer as well, which is getting into the more 50's style neck. Look at your guitars photos of the back to see the neck and tenon configuration.
  9. Sounds like a good deal, the 2020 listing is 2.3k to 2.9k.
  10. The 61 is when the tapered neck was introduced along with the SG. Before that they were the 50's style C profile fat necks. Over the years SG's had many variations of each of the basic styles of necks and types of neck tenons some were bulky but allowed the strap button to moved farther forward for better balance, then some like the 61 was a very fast neck joined at the 22nd fret.
  11. The best thing would be to play one and see if you like the tapered neck and to see if you like the way it sounds. The SG Standard is basically a very good guitar. There are a few different configurations of the Standard, one with large pickguard that has the rounded neck and the 61 style that has the half size pickguard and the slim taper neck. Including the Maestro Vibrola versions.. So basically it comes down to if you like the looks, feel and sound... Which ever way you go its a good guitar.............
  12. Univox was considered to be better than some of my early guitars, but I soon developed taste for early 60's Epiphones, I wasn't into Gibsons until much later in the 90's when I got my SG-X. Anyway, your new Les Paul looks really nice... Keep up the good work...

  14. Oh girl, electric witch, you are limp, in societies ditch you are visually fine, oh yes you are, mentally dying Oh boy, just like a boat, you are sunk, but somehow you float you are mentally weak, oh yes you are, but so much you speak Oh God, high in your fields above earth, come and be real for us you with your mind, oh yes you are, beautifully fine •••• Hmmmm, I would have thought one of the guys from across the pond would have known the artist on this one ••••
  15. I think ES-339 Gibson is too young to get the ICONIC status being introduced in 2007. However, both the Gibson and Epiphone versions seem to have taken over the tone world by storm.. I haven't stopped playing mine since it arrived. Note: the materials used are very similar. The Gibson uses a Maple centerblock, with 3-ply Maple/Poplar/Maple top and back, with a Mahogany rounded C profile neck and Nitro. The new Epiphone uses a Maple centerblock, with Layered Maple top and back, with a Mahogany rounded C profile neck and Poly finish. The previous Epiphone model was pretty much the same except it has a D profile slim taper neck..

  17. My recent acquisitions took me by surprise, the last 2 Epiphones blindsided me, as I wasn't expecting to find them. My 339 is proving punch way above its weight class like Karloff mentioned. The Wilshire is still unknown, but I have high hopes... Fortunately collecting Epiphones doesn't break the bank too badly and allows me to be a bit braver with things I don't get to touch before buying.
  18. 2009 Gibson Custom Shop Epiphone Wilshire 62 Re-Issue The Gibson Custom Shop Wilshire, with the symmetrical body, represents what could possibly be built at the Qingdao facility to re-introduce a Gibson/Epiphone design that was produced in 59 and it fits in an SG case .
  19. Not the USA version but very nice
