  1. Sounds like an awesome amp, back in my day the original Bassman's were very popular with guitar players. I do remember some people using an external spring reverb tank with them.
  2. I was in the Army so long ago it seems like another life and the attitude toward military was completely different. Many thanks to all who served..
  3. You might try backing off the Gain or Drive on your pedals, modulate their Tone a bit more towards the Bass side and on your Amp take the Treble way down and increase the Mids. This works the best with multiple OD's, each set to not increase the volume too much individually but in stages together they will sound incredible. Oh yea, while adjusting the tone, position yourself a few feet directly in front of the speaker in the "hot zone" to better hear what it actually sounds like.
  4. I have never done F-Holes before, but I have watched others do them, I think I can handle it.
  5. I ordered a pair of Black Mean 90's for my 339 today..
  6. Epiphone Casino Coupe with the old headstock Same size body as the 339
  7. not the greatest shot I haven't pealed the plastic yet. I set the intonation, the action was already pretty good, the neck is relatively flat and no buzzing, the frets feel slippery and ends are smooth and fret 22 is easy to reach. The Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers sound nice and chimey and thick, I lowered the neck pickup to balance the tone on mid position and the CTS full size pots are really smooth. Looking forward to installing some Mean 90's..
  8. Its a lot of work to develop originals and teaching them to other band members, but so rewarding when an audience responds to them.
  9. Lots of manufactures use Scarf Joints, they tend be stronger than continuous wood on set necks, bolt-on's theres no point. Although my Ibanez has one, none of my other Epi's have it. With Epiphone introducing the new headstock on a few guitars in their product line it was logical choice. Prior to this Epiphone has not used Scarf Joints for a very long time. Below is how they did it on a new LP. Geeezzzzz, I gotta go plug in my 339 now.
  10. I really like it, no flaws that I can see. The 339 was setup to play right out of the box. Thats the plan, I will install Mean 90's, I haven't decided what color; Black, Nickel or Toaster style.. This was an early release of the new 339 with what looks like the original 50's Epiphone headstock, most of 339's being sold now have the old more ornate headstock and coil tapping. This new style wasn't available with P90's yet. So since the GFS Mean 90's are exceptional, I will install them, so I get to go fishing through the F hole. I have noticed a "Scarf Joint", not on the neck, but carefully disguised in the headstock just past the nut. So today I am really enjoying unplugged, none of my other electrics make this much sound.
  11. The Elitist Series was made at the Terada and Fuji-gen factories in Japan. Originally called the Elite Series, Epiphone was forced to change the name because of a conflict with an Ovation line of guitars already bearing the Elite moniker. There has always been some confusion on the Elitist series, mostly built at Fugi-Gen. Sometimes a rare model like the 62 Wilshire Historic Reissue built in Nashville or a few Kalamazoo built will raise their heads. It seems, this year when Gibson reorganized the product line, that production out side of the Gibson Qingdao shut down. Now used Elitist tend to be selling for 2 or 3 times what they originally sold for, which was over 1k. Prophecy's represent the high end of what could be built at the Gibson Qingdao factory, one thing they all have in common is 24 Frets, effecting how the LP's and SG's were built. The Shredder guitars like the Futura or EM Prophecy's with bolt-on necks tended to sell for. less. The only way to know if they are worth the 900 is to play one, the older ones were exceptional. Also note that it seems that the 2020 Epiphones do not include cases, but can be bought separately.. I'm not an absolute authority on these, if anyone has more accurate information please comment...
  12. Prophecy's have always been in the 900 dollar range, then there's also the Elite series that cost a lot more.
  13. I finished mowing the front lawn. My 339 with the new style headstock came in......
  14. I like the Gator Deluxe SG Case, it looks like my Gibson Deluxe SG Case and doesn't say Gibson on it..
  15. Very interesting Tele Style, looks to be very tastefully done..
  16. Starting the front half of the lawn after coffee this morning. My 339 is on the Island, should get it today.
  17. Hmmm, just a really hot guitar going through a good tube amp.
  18. You might consider an old school custom 4X4, acquire or build, with your favorite engine..
  19. Had a nice jam yesterday, my P90 powered Ibanez sounded incredible going through Rectifiers. The last scan on my 339 was in Ontario CA from a few days ago, I should see it hit Oahu soon.
  20. Epiphone has been using veneer's to finish their usually 3 piece mahogany bodies since the 90's, a way of providing a nicer looking finish at a lower cost. The carved top LP's have always taken a slightly different track normally using a carved maple cap covered with a veneer. The new Les Paul Prophecy lists its construction; Body Body Shape Les Paul Body Material Mahogany Top Carved Hard Maple cap with AAA Flame Maple veneer Weight Relief Ultra Modern Weight Relief
  21. Yes, made in China at the Gibson Qingdao factory, where it is likely that most future Asian Epiphones will be built.
