  1. I attend a jam every weekend with a varying number of players, lately not that many. We gather on a second floor lanai in the open air with lots of space between us and usually don't wear masks while we are playing. When people wander in to listen, they come in from the other end of the lanai in an area set up for them with plenty of space. I think that you may need to get creative in making a safe place to play with public exposure.. Rooftops, Garages, Trailers, Bandshells, Houseboats anything you can put together with outdoor access where people can gather at their own discretion, with a safe buffer between you and them.
  2. I got this G400 in stock form from a local store for $200 and was amazed at how well it played. So I had to upgrade it with humbucker sized GFS Mean 90's, a Duesenberg Les Trem II and a TOM Roller Bridge. It is one of my goto guitars. Is it unorthodox to add $200 in parts to a $200 guitar?
  3. I listened to "Yes, I Have Ghosts" again this morning and I have to admit it is growing on me. It is troubling to see such a jaw dropping guitarist slipping gracefully into the twilight.. I'm not ready to fade, my hair is almost completely white, I think I may identify more with Neil Young's approach to mortality, hmmm I gotta go step on an Over Drive...
  4. I still have 2, a Fender FM 100 1/2 stack and a Deluxe 900, both working but just kind of back up amps.
  5. Hmm yes... Schiizoid was shocking for the time..
  6. True they had a Euro contemporary... The Soft Machine..
  7. Pink Floyd made their reputation by being unusual..
  8. One of the reasons some hot humbucker guitars don't have a tone control is because the best sound from a humbucker is wide open..
  9. A cap or a treble bleed is intended to enhance how much tone depth or how it reacts on the tone pot, usually installed between lug 2 and ground. Whether you use a .02 or a .047 cap determine how much the tone control reacts. If you install a treble bleed or cap on a volume pot you will be turning it into a volume/tone control which I don't think would be very desirable. As turning down would also be turning it to mud..
  10. that works pretty well when you have a snake with an engineer on the end.. 🙂
  11. One thing to take into account is that guitar amps are very directional, if you are positioned off the side of them you may not realize how brutally loud they could be. In close proximity position the amp so its firing at you for gigs or even practice, the interaction between the guitar and amp resonance or sustain will be at its best. If you are 10ft in front of a wall of amps it doesn't really matter, there is no place to hide..
  12. Right now my Blueshawk is inside or when it leaves the house, the case has been home to a few LP's, it did carry my Gibson LP Spec DC to India and back. Looks old and worn but extremely solid with thousands of air miles....
  13. My all P90 guitar collection, feel and play different, neck access on my SG's and LP Junior DC is incredible. LP Standard is extremely precise but fret 21 and 22 are hard to reach. Blueshawk is a tone machine with hum cancelling a Vari-Tone and a 25.5" scale neck that is smooth as silk. Explorer has a wonderful neck and is extremely well balanced. The Tele is heavy but joy to play with really good neck access. Then there is the weight range from light to heavy, what does my back feel like. Pickups, I decided a while back that I couldn't live without the rude in your face squeal of a P90. My LP Special DC was proving to be noisy at times and I thought hasn't anyone come up with a better way to control P90's. My search ended with the Epiphone Blueshawk which uses a reverse coil P90 in the neck position and a dummy coil inside. Then I though I should get a Gibson Blues Hawk with Blues 90s, but the Epiphone version won out on many levels, specially because it has true P90s. After this I reworked all of my P90 guitars to have hum cancelling using reverse Coils. My amps I discovered needed to be tweaked for P90s so I got rid of my contrary humbuckers. Over the last few years I have been using my Roland Cubes most of the time while also having a Fender half stack and a Deluxe. Then I started trying out new tube amps and decided it was time to return to the tube world after gladly leaving it in the 70s. So now I play my Stage Right 15's most of the time unless there is no power then the old Rolands come out... My most currently reliable guitars are selected first, Amps, the lightest load possible. Unless I just want to enjoy the sound of multiple amps.
  14. The SG image is from the web, although I wish they were mine too enjoy.. 🤙
  15. The first SG's had the thin taper neck but some of the early SG shaped Les Pauls had the thicker 50's profile. The shape of the SG neck tenon changed several times over the years to improve rigidity. The 61 SG had smallest tenon giving you thin access all the way to the 22nd fret. Also notice the strap button keeps moving forward to combat neck dive.. This is an image from the web.... FYI: the Epiphone SG G400 series neck geometry is modeled on the 61 SG..
  16. One thing to consider is the 2.4GHZ usage for WiFi in your area, it is a very popular frequency for Hotspots, wireless routers and RC controllers. You may want to consider moving up to the next model that uses 5.8GHZ.
  17. The Monoprice Stage Right 15 watt w/ 12" Celestion are made in China but shipped from Hebron, Kentucky. Or you could get a comparable Blues Jr for more than twice as much... My Deluxe 900 has been collecting dust since my SR 15's came in.. My 3 chan Deluxe with 7 amp models did not come close to a Blues Jr.
  18. I love my extra heavy Roland cables they fixed my crackling problems.. 🙂
  19. Each of my guitars has its own strap, usually not taken off and on heavier guitars the eyelets are sewn smaller so they won't come off. These days I do play sitting down sitting down a lot, a while back I broke my ankle and started using a stool while I was healing. Also when sitting, I don't straddle it on my lap, I play with it resting mostly on my my right hip.
  20. Probably perfect for the Immigrant Song.. 🙂
  21. Thats pretty hot for a double coil...
