Blujag2013 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Where is the best place to keep my Casino ? I have it on a wall hanger but should it be kept in a case ? I love to look at my guitar on the wall and it makes me want to play it as soon as I see it there , but will it stay in a good condition ?
Versatile Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 There are 2 schools of thought to answer this question... One says...'keep guitar in case unless being played' The other says...'keep guitar on display whenever possible' IMO the main issues are dust and humidity... Personally I rotate guitars on stands for a month or so...then recase Hope this helps... V
kidblast Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 if you're in a place where you can control the humidity and temp, you're probably ok to keep it on the hanger, it's going to collect dust, so you'll want to be mindful of that I suppose. but at the end of the day the safest place for long term well being of your guitar is it's case most of the time.
Aster1 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm with KB, All mine sleep like Vampires in their coffins (case) till they come out to play. Dust is scratched finish in the works and the only time I leave out is when new for a few weeks to air out the case & gas out the Nitro or finish on the guitar. Just me. I know what they look like and I'm not a dealer showing to sell. The case for me. Aster
kidblast Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 ha Vampires! LOL! I have a closet that I have just for guitar/case storage. It has 18 guitars in there, (not much room for more cases at this point! OMG!! WHAT TO DO!!) I also have all related tools, guitar care items, extra string packs etc. stored in there. I have a studio room where I do have a number of wall hangers where the amps/Sound System, Keyboard, PC for working with backing tracks are set up, (just flip the switch and the room comes on line). I'll use the wall hangers when I grab a few cases out of the closet and get em out for some air. When I'm done however, it's back in the cases, back in the closet. Which has a lock on the door for the times we're going out of town for a few days. maybe I'm OCD, maybe not.. however just about all the axes are pretty close to if not in MINT condition, and a few are approaching 20 years old. plus storing in the cases will help to also maximize string life.
Cougar Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Where is the best place to keep my Casino ? I keep all mine in cases with damp sponges to modulate the humidity, but I think this is only crucial with all-solid-wood acoustics. The Casino and most if not all electrics are laminates, so humidity control is not such a concern. In a relatively stable temp/humidity environment, wall hanging shouldn't be a problem for electrics, even hollows and semi-hollows, which are still laminates AFAIK.
capmaster Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I vote for a case in any case. My guitars and basses spend over 99% of the time in their individual cases. No wall hangers here but up to 16 compartments in four foldable stage stands of which I typically use eight to ten for guitars respectively two to five for basses. When comparing to a guitar collecting dust, it's much easier to keep the outside of a case clean. It takes only one minute for each using a vacuum cleaner every two or three weeks. I think hardshell cases are hard to beat from a practical point of view.
arlum Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 About 12 years ago I went wall hanger crazy and ended up with a dozen guitars lining my studio rooms walls. It was an impressive room to walk into. Lot's of "Oh my" and "Oh cools" to be had. I did this for a few years and then just got tired of dusting and cleaning the guitars. I also noted that the pots tended to get scratchy unless I blew them out with canned air. The strings didn't stay fresh for as long either. Anyway, when we moved to our next home I decided to forgo the wall hangers and store all my instruments in their case. I sometimes have a couple out on stands when they're part of a current project that's getting worked on multiple days a week. Otherwise they're kept in their case.
merciful-evans Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I have to have one guitar out of the case and ready to grab at a moments notice. (on a hanger in the living room) Either because I may have a sound in my head to figure out or because I may have just heard something I want to figure out.
MojoMike Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I only have 4 and they're all out on stands. They don't really sit still long enough to get dusty. I practice every day and never know which one I'll pick up. Cheers
merciful-evans Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I also have a couple of hangers in my studio. I have no cases for my 2 basses, so they tend to live on that wall. My Casino Coupe has no case & is the one normally on the living room wall. If gigging I borrow the 339 case for that. Bottom line: Hangers & cases are both fine. The important thing is to protect guitars from temperature and humidity extremes. If thats a problem in your home, a case is probably safer. You can buy humidifiers for a specific instrument like this one for a violin. I use one for my spanish guitar. here Keep guitars away from kitchens & bathrooms.
Pinch Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I don't trust wall hangers. I mean, I dunno if it's ever happened, but it's a constant stress on the neck joint, so... Other than that - humidity and temperature.
