Yes.... very saddened by this news!

I always loved reading his descriptions of guitars for sale. He ran a top-notch shop!

Yes, I too am sorry to hear that.

While I have never bought a guitar from Mandolin Bros, I have a couple of their listings, with their witty content, as permanent bookmarks.

RIP Stan.

So sad. I have spent quite a bit of time with Stan and his kids in his shop. I bought three 15 series Martins from him, an M21 Steve Earle, and even a Gibson Sheryl Crow. He always treated me fairly. I still remember his walking over with interest, and picking up a guitar and joining me, as I played Gordon Lightfoot's Cold on the Shoulder.

Rest in heaven Stan, and peace to your son and daughter.

I did business with Stan Jay since 1977. Got my 2004 Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway from him. He was always a pleasure to do business with. Condolences to the family. Rest in peace, Stan.

I met Stan in 1991 when I went there to buy an HD28. He asked me how many I wanted. He had six or eight. I sat down to play some and he handed me a pre war D28 to try. It was $20K at the time.

I couldn't swing that one, but bought one of the HD28's. Over the years I bought a D18GE from him, a Goodall that my son has and a D28 Marquis. I got disappointed a few times when some good used guitars got away because I hesitated. My fault, not his!

We will all miss him and a place that can never be replicated.

Was a bucket list thing for me .

new york and mandolin bro's.

have often laughed at the product descriptions.

was that stan that wrote those ?

is always hard to hand a couple of thousand to in any business. but some made it easier to do. I'd imagine he was one of those guys.
