Tman
As a cheat I tune down my A string to G and don't play either E. Middle position on a tele or P-90s and voila...Keef. Every year for the past 25 we end a conference that I am a part of in Graz, Austria at a gala party with a set of stones songs. All the usual suspects-JJF, B.S. HTW, also Start me up, Paint it black, Back in the USSR ..oh wait. Highlight of the year (except the last 2). Next year is the 25th. Anyone want to join, you are welcome. Great album, next came Fragile and then the ultimate Prog album Close To The Edge, which is one of my top 3 favorite albums of all time. (Some Girls is the other.) By default, this is my favorite. I was in Jr High, and living over in Germany when Sticky Fingers came out. Good times, good memories. Grand Funk Railroad, 3 Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Black Sabbath, George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, and this zippered album. Good times indeed. 😑 Some great bands there. I don't hear anyone playing some of those on the radio anymore.

Radio stations lately have become less diverse than before. Many have become genre specific. Where back in the "day"( that "day" being the late '60's rise in FM "counterculture" stations) You could hear white rock bands, black blues and R&B bands, rock music, blues, jazz, folk, folk-rock, etc., and none of the bands sounding or looking alike, as they did in the '80's. (Think all them big hair "metal" bands that I grouped together with one name: "Spandex Ballet" and "new wave"). Sad to think that the earlier AM stations were more diverse before these so-called "enlightened" times. I learned a lot about the Beatles when we married. She is a big fan and in college, before we met she did a big report on them and got a A. Of course, like my oldest sister, they both had a fit if they didn't get straight A's.
Whitefang
One of my sisters in law(the youngest, a year younger than me) is still a big Beatles freak. Even went to see 'em at the Olympia Stadium when they came to Detroit in '64. one of her older sisters( my wife it turned out) drove her there. My wife, who was a teen-ager in the '50's, at first thought The Beatles were a bunch of "kids" and too young for her to be interested in. She was kind of surprised later to learn she was older(by a year or two) than Paul and George! Whitefang

Well that was 35 minutes of my life I'll never get back, of having to listen to the deafening screams of hysterical girls. Oh and can we pipe the music through the lowest fidelity ever of a stadiums public address system. Edited June 24, 2021 by Sgt. Whitefang
Well, 57 years later all she remembers about the concert is seeing them. And that from where she was seated, they were all about one inch tall. But, she said she did scream her throat raw regardless! Oh and can we pipe the music through the lowest fidelity ever of a stadiums public address system. Deb & I went to the Holland Center to see 3 Dog Night come and play with the Orchestra. We heard the Orchestra as the background for them but the sound system was out for 3 Dog Night. Deb & I were in the nose bleed section that night and not a peep out of 3 Dog night. Those up there kept shouting the first whole half to get their attention and they finally stoped to fix it but couldn't. They just finished the 2nd half that way. Those way up there got a free concert on the next performance a month or so down the road but for a different group. Debbie was ticked. Her favorite 3 Dog Night song was "Out In The Country" and as many times as she saw the group, even before we met, she had never heard them play that song. They played it that night and we couldn't hear them.
Retired
The closest I have come to seeing the Beatles was at Branson I think it was. They had a group of kids that were made up to look just like them and it was great. They even acted like them, played like them. Almost like actually seeing them this group was so good. Deb mentioned to me that John, often chewed gum while he performed and said the guy that was playing John even was chewing gum. So even though they were not the authentic Beatles, they were so darn close.
Whitefang
I saw Three Dog Night at The Grande Ballroom along with The MC5 and The James Gang( before they ever made an album) in '69. anyway---- 12 hours ago, Retired said: The closest I have come to seeing the Beatles was at Branson I think it was. One around here that my wife and I saw a couple of times was---- (and they're a Canadian band) The "Paul" member, through e-mail communication said he at the time was working at playing "lefty", but was still a struggle. That was a little more than 10 years ago. Haven't seen them since, but they still show up at the CAESAR'S Casino in Windsor, Ont. Sgt. Pepper
Its almost hard to believe 40 years will have passed this October since I saw The Stones live. I think they were my 4th concert ever. I turned 15 the day after I saw them. It looked like a bomb when off in the parking lot of Candlestick Park. I saw them the second day of a two day stint. These guys we saw had the early Beatles haircuts, those Beatle high shoes, Beatles marked on the drum, wore the early Beatles suits, even the guy that was playing the part of Paul had the left handed bass. Looking at them, they all looked just like each real Beatle. It would have been very hard to beat these guys as they had the whole act down. If I remember, I thought they won some award for their act and also played for the President back then.
