I have a confession

I'm a semi reformed gear whore. I went through a period of time a few years ago when I was buying all sorts of stuff. I'm pretty content with what I have now and, other than some fleeting flirtations, there really isn't anything I'm jonesing for right now.

The only thing that keeps me from doing that is I have no money to spend!

Well, I have money, just not enough for the stuff I want.....

I'm only restricted by the amount of money I have to spend. I keep my gas on a tight leash, but I always know what my next purchase is going to be. And have already done my research for it/

I bought an OD last month, my next one will be a good delay pedal. Then it's a wah or a small, practising tube amp. And I dig flangers a lot, so... And I also need a pedalboard to keep everything nice & tidy. And then a guitar. Single coils for variety or a Flying-V for my Metal side...? [blush]

Well, you get the idea...#-o[cool]

I'll second that, TG; that's probably the biggest reason I haven't been buying anything else lately. What I do, rather than acting on impulse when I see something I like, is to put off buying it for a few weeks. If I still want it later I might buy it but, if not, then that's money saved from something that would probably end up sitting in a box.

I have my GAS harnessed, I am looking for a used R8 but other than than I only need a recording interface that suits my needs. I am also tweaking some of my guitars to make them better players.

I recently sold gear that I did not need actually, Boss GT-6, Boss Dyna Drive and a Rocktron Delay. It actually felt good to take that stuff out of the way although I sold it all for cheap, eBay dos not seem to be what it used to.

This is probably why my GAS is so under control - I already bought a ton of crap when I was going nuts. Here's an almost complete list of gear (there are a few guitars missing). Moral of the story - to cure your GAS, buy a lot of stuff.

And for impact, here's my pedals:

What I actually use with my band:

And I was just reading about that new Zvex Distortron pedal...

I am a gear whore too.

Not to big on the pedals but in amps I would love to have a Fender Super Reverb and Marshall Stack.

Guitars: goldtop, Traditional pro, 59 reissue, 335, 345, sg historic with maestro, strat. and whatever acoustics I already have. Not to big on acoustics. One or two will do for me

Having very little in the way of disposable income is the key to treating GAS--when you need to save for months at a time, it puts your potential purchases into a different perspective. It stops being "Gee, that's really nice. I've got to buy that" and it starts being "Well, I could have that in eight months. Do I really need it?"

That being said, I've found that it doesn't cure GAS at all. Rather, it tends to just refine the symptomatic particularities of one's GAS. Having eight months to mull over the purchase of an amp, and deciding not to fork over any money until I've got it right, has been one of the best things for me, because it's prevented me from buying something I could potentially regret.

Right now, and for the past two months or so it's been a Fender Twin Reverb '65 Reissue, an MXR Classic 108 Fuzz, and a Vox Wah. Well, there are guitars, too. But I don't see a Gibson Super 400 coming my way any time soon.

You people are week!

Have some control for gawd's sake.

You call yourself a musician?

Real musicians don't pay for their gear' date=' it's sent to them by manufacturers who want them to use their stuff.

Get a grip!

For the love of Bill![/quote']

Real musicians know grammar the bestest [biggrin]

And I already tried telling Gibson, but for some reason they won't send me a Jimmy Page LP [cool]

My daddy died..... I can't do it, old joke RIP Curtis Adkins Jr jokes....

I too have a gear addiction.

Right now I'm hankering (I learned that word when I lived in Texas) for a Telecaster

and

A Train Wreck style amp - probably going to build a Liverpool style amp.

and

A Marshall style amp: not sure which one I'm going to build hopefully later this year. It will be either an 18 watt or a Jubilee style.

And I need a good delay pedal.

Hi my name is Scott and I just came out of G.A.S rehab but having a very difficult time with it. There are to many R8's, R9's and R0's out there that need my undivided attention . I'm thinking about selling the kids just to fund my addiction . I wake up in the morning and I have to look at some R8's just to stop my hands from shaking . When I get real bad, I go to the music store and play a couple. This however is a contradiction in itself.

When I wake up the next morning from playing all those R8's , I feel empty and very alone. The hands start to shake again and I look over at my wife and tell her "It's gonna be one of those days again, please baby I need an R8 fix real bad" . I even once got so bad, that I flew to Nashville. I went to the Gibson Factory and stood outside the doors. When some employees came out, I'd ask them " If you give me an R8, I'll be yours for the night" . It almost happened that I got an R8 but the female Gibson Employee took off out the door before I could receive my end of the bargain. A few years later, I found out it was really Das44 dressed in drag. I'm such a loser

Yes I too am a gear whore but I control my urges because I don't have the cash to spend lol

I've down-sized quite a bit this year..... I sold both of my Mesa Boogie Mark IV head and two Mesa Boogie full stacks. Sold a Epi Casino, and a Archtop..... Might sell my Epi ET-275, it's rarely played. I'm also losing the Tascam US-428, probably have to give that away[biggrin]
