I'm not really a fan of zillion miles an hour guitar playing...in fact I like solos of any kind to be few and to the point. Its often what you leave out that counts. But in the spirit of this thread, here's a clip from a great band from way back called Patto...check out the solo from Ollie Halsall...he was a hell of a player. I never saw them live but a mate of mine I used to play with did and he was totally blown away. He's played SG Customs ever since! I can listen to this kind of stuff now and then...but that's it for me. I just want to hear a good song! Anyway, here you go: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=17r1knSjThw

Every year in Macon, GA there's an Allman Brothers Tribute concert on Duane's birthday in Central city Park where the Brothers used to play free concerts on Sunday afternoons when they were just getting started in the business. The two links below are videos from one of those tribute concerts. Tim Brooks is my cousin and is the huge guy sitting down, playing the sunburst Les Paul and doing the Duane solos. The other guitar player with the Black Les Paul is Kenny Wynn. Kenny does Dickey's solos. In person, it's like being at an ABB concert. The youtube video doesn't really do the whole thing justice, but you can tell they have spent countless hours perfecting the tunes. Part 2 has the extended solos. They usually have a crowd of a couple of thousand people. It's a charity thing where 2 or more canned goods gets you free admission to the concert and the canned goods go to the Local Food Bank for Thanksgiving.

For a taste of how big the original Capricorn Records artists free concerts were, check out the Wet Willie concerts in the sidebar for the links below. They were awesome. The early 70's in Macon were good years for the music business. There were weekly free concerts such as this.
