Which guitar is the most comfortable?

I had 3 SG. Playing them standing was annoying because of the balance. But seriously you can live with it.

I love my Les Paul but it's a heavy one. 4 rehearse hours : pain. But it's worth it. It's a heavy horse, but the balance is so right.

I also have a ES-339 which is the only guitar I could compare with the Casino. I assume it must be lighter than the Casino. It's a very easy guitar.

Finally someone talked about Wilshire.

I've already talked about mine, except about balance/confort purpose.

For some reason, the balance is perfect standing, though I thought I would have the same feeling than with my SGs. But as it's a vintage one, I've struggled with the action, and I guess it makes it less confortable than the 66 reissues. (But it's a plenty of soul mojo dream so I'm getting use to it, as it is).

Otherwise, I use to think that slim taper neck were easier to play, but my 50's fat neck Les Paul tends to make me think the opposite.

The point is, you adapt to the guitar much more easily than you think you could.

I understand some don't want to struggle with theirs. Let's say I personally rather buy guitars for their look first, then their sound, and the overall feeling part comes in the end. [crying]

Sounds like a consensus!

People love their les pauls and Casinos.

SG 400s seem to have a special place in everyone play set.

THey seem to be the humble vanilla in the guitar world.

I love my les paul, however the I dont like the weight or the upper fret access for a noob like me.

Casinos are my dream guitars. I hope to own the IBJL model. But not the one I want to learn guitar on.

Since I already have my les paul, I think my next one will be an SG 400

Thanks everyone!

I have a G400 Custom(gold hardware,3 pup) and a John Lennon Casino,I find the Casino the most comfortable for fretting and for the playing position, the neck is narrower and the action closer and I find the strings much easier to bend even though I use 8-38s on both. One thing I find with the G400 is that it's neck heavy and you constantly have to reposition it as the neck insists on pointing at the floor.Comfort in guitar playing is very subjective and what I find ideal may be a hinderance to others.Having said that the Casino can dirty up nicely for the blues, the P90s are well suited for the blues and rock however I wouldn't attempt to use it in hi-gain situations due to pup squeal.

My priorities are exactly opposite from that! Feel, sound, looks.

I think buying a guitar is like finding a girlfriend.

It's looks attract you. If it feels good in your hands, plug it in.

If it sounds good, with no whiny noises, buy it.

My priorities are sort of a combination of both. First, I eliminate all guitars that I think are too ugly to be seen with. Once I have eliminated all of the repulsive ones, there are still hundreds to choose from that feel and sound good.

The bow wows? I've never gotten into the look of Telecasters. I don't care for the Danelectro look. The Parkers don't do a thing for me. The Melody Maker types are too WalMart for me. And, at the time, I didn't like the look of the Mosrite Venture model, but when I picked one up in the 60's and played it, it had the most playable neck I had ever touched.

And that Trini Lopez Gibson with the two sharp cutaways, well, I won't even stand to be in the same room with it.

I am trying to learn how to play guitar and I am looking at different guitars at my local shop.

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on which guitar is the most comfortable for playing.

I have narrowed it down to a couple choices:

1) Epi Les Paul = My LP custom is a bit heavy and the I feel that the frets are a bit farther apart. Love the design and my humbuckers are great!

2) Epi Casino/ John lennon = I tried this and it ultra light. Same fret issue. THey are a bit further apart. I love this design above all else.

3) Epi G-400 = Dont like the double cut out design(sorry just my personal preference)' date=' but it is ultra light, and the frets are a bit closer together for my power cords and my blues shuffle.

Let me know what you feel are the pros and cons of each.

Thanks,

How can both the casino and the les paul be on the list but not a dot or sheraton? (or even an agile AS series or a bb king lucille)

they have better fret access than the casino, but the same contours... and i find the ES-3XX design to be quite comfortable.

as a side note, the agile AS series are slightly smaller, lighter, and higher quality, and the AS-1000 has an ebony fretboard, which makes for comfortable playing (less friction than rosewood, so your fingers don't get tired... and your hammer ons are easier too...)

I judge a guitars comfort on how it feels while playing standing up . IMO all guitars are uncomfortable to play sitting down. IMO my SG's are the most uncomfortable guitar to play, because I feel like I need to hold it up with my frettin hand. My most comfortable is the Casino.

Well, it all depends. I have an SG and a Les Paul. I used to love my SG to death just because it's so light and delivers such a great sound. After a while I discovered my Les Paul to just be a lot more comfortable and not as neck heavy as the SG. Since then I love my Les Paul Custom. The downside - it's wicked heavy and you'll need a good guitar strap to play it for longer than 2 hours. Nonetheless, it's all worth it...decision between neck-heavy and back pain [biggrin]
