Still no Rush...

I certainly think Alice Cooper, Dr. John, J. Geils Band, Laura Nyro, Chuck Wills, Tom Waits and Donovan are worthy. Not certain about Donna Summer (I mean, is chart success really the sole qualifier for this whole thing?) and I definitely can't justify the Beastie Boys or LL Cool J.

I dunno--I stopped believing that the Rock Hall has any credibility or integrity quite a while ago.

They have a bias against prog rock. I am by no means a fan, but at least Rush, Yes, King Crimson, or ELP should be on the nomination list.

And no Slayer? Come on.

Slayers to heavy.

I remeber there was a fight to even get Sabbath in...

Slayer? Really? They havent done anything special or noteworthy really to get in (not that many of the bands that have got in have done so either). And yes Im a fan, seen em during the clash of the titans tour.

They made one of the greatist recrods under 30 mins in histroy?

They have the most loyal fanbase in the world? (Yes its a fact, its been proven world wide)

Also one of the most infamous bands in the world as well.

Greatest albums? Dont think so.

Id say that the Dead had a much more loyal fan base.

Infamous? In case you didnt know, thats not a good thing.

Read under 30 mins, thats kinda rare.

Actual the dead weren't even in the top 10 if im correct. It also still sells alot to this day.

You say infamous isnt a good thing, i think its a great thing.

Slayer is a band that helped pioneer a sound. The fact that they are still around and relevant says a lot. They deserve to be at least considered and I would argue more than some of those flash in the pan disco acts that got all the way in.

Hah!

I'm old enough to remember when they started the whole damned thing.

It NEVER had any credibility or integrity!!!

Bunch of industry folks paying marketing companies to do research.

Broad-brush bullsh!t - artistic merit or fan preference be damned.

Chic ?!? . . . WTF?!?!?. . . [scared]

Nile Rogers produced that - and a lot of other stuff - if I recall.

For a black artist working in the dance/disco/soul world he's a pretty good guitar player.

Smart man.

Knows the business.

He's an insider, so at least THAT choice sorta makes sense...

It's just simply an ego trip for Jann Wenner. It's to the point now were they might as well just put in everyone thats still pluggin away after 10 years in the business.

And change the name to music HOF if you're gonna put in Abba, Madonna and the like.

Frankly if Wenner does't care for the act chances of them getting in are slim.

He hates Kiss and they will never get in even though they influenced thousands of kids to pick up guitars.

Why Sabbath but no Deep Purple.

Why Bowie but no Alice.

Why Earth Wind & Fire but no Chicago.

Lynyrd Skynyrd but no Doobie Brothers.

The RNRHOF practices the exact prejudices they feel music should avoid.msp_thumbdn.gif
