57-classic
I think the new line of Melody Makers are cool and all but I don't like the new humbuckers. I believe that Melody Makers should keep a single coil pickup. I like the sound of a 1966-67 SG Melody Maker. PS I think they should reissue the SG Melody Maker

BigKahune
My favorite Melody Maker didn't make the poll. . . . . +1 I bought a Cardinal Red 65 double cut MM with a single and a trem. Still have it (it's modded now). Definitely my favorite.
Searcy
One of these days I want to pick up a basket case MM Double Cut and add some P-90s to it.
dem00n
The vintage ones are the best hands down.
jnastynebr
Hard to compare the new MM to the older ones. This line features maple bodies and high output ceramic humbuckers. Clearly, this instrument would be more suited to high gain styles of music. Offering explorer and V body styles is likely a move to attract heavy rock/metal players. I praise Gibson for opening up this affordable range to attract players from other genres. I would love to own one.
charlie brown
I too, would love to see Gibson reissue the double cut melody makers, with dual single coil pickups! I'll take a White one, please! ;>) Heck, I wouldn't even mind, if they just added the traditional double cutaway, to the current line. But, I guess, with the more costly "Joan Jett" model, they don't see the need??? Who knows? It would be nice, though. CB

feldkeen4
The Les Paul Melody Maker from 2004 or so was the best. It had the p90 and tune-o-matic bride. I still faithfully scan craigslist trying to get lucky and find one. Just add a Jr.pick guard and your set.
Searcy
That would be a nice second place for me.
duane v
IMO the 76 to 80 MM's are the best ones IMO..... If I find one in decent condition, it will be mine
