Him: I'm thinking of buying another guitar.

Her: Oh, really?

Him: There's this pretty sweet 1943 re-issue Gibson Southern Jumbo at Fuller's that I just can't get out of my head.

Her: Why?

Him: Well its got a neck thats a tad wider than my J-45, and I think I'd like that little extra room.

Her: Ok. What are you going to sell ?

Him: Your piano.

Its gonna be a long cold weekend, but at least the seed has been planted, wish me luck.

Man oh man, you don't have it figured out. You're supposed to something for them, and THEN mention that you are thinking of buying another guitar. It's more comfortable than sleeping on the couch, and a lot cheaper than divorce. Learned that one the hard way.

I am about as lucky as it gets. My wife comes home from her business trip and I gingerly break it to her that a banner Gibson has come to live with us. She asks to see it, takes it and plays it a bit. She puts it down gives me a look and says I hope this is not going to be one of the guitars that you are planning to keep a bit and then trade off for something else because this old Gibson is not going anywhere. How could you not love a woman like that.

How indeed? You keep a woman like that forever. Mine is pretty much like that. She knows I work hard, support her well, and don't chase women or hang out in bars. We have friends that have done both, and it hasn't ended well. She lets me buy guitars, and I do what it takes to keep her happy.

It's not a cheap arrangement, but it works for us, and has for the last 20+ years.

Of course, it took me a couple of marriages to figure this all out....

It's usually easier to get a woman to agree to letting her man get another guitar than it is to getting her to agree that guitars are like women: you can't have too many.......Good luck. I'd give her a couple days and see if maybe she'll bring-up the conversation. If you can get her to start talking about it, you're getting close. [thumbup]

Yeah, likewise. My Mrs when I told her about the impending AJ arrival only commented ... well, you still got two hooks in the music room ... what a gal !

Update:

Him: (Noodling on the back of a napkin at lunch with a whole string of figures)

Her: What are you doing?

Him: Trying to figure something out...

Her: What?

Him: Oh, the guitars I've bought, traded, and where I am relative to the whole picture.

Her: Well, why do you have our son's Casino guitar listed, that shouldn't count.

Him: Well I bought it for him.

Her: Gifts don't count.

Him: (trying hard now to stifle the grin) Hmm, you think?

Her: Of course !

Him: Hmmm

Her: Are you going to buy that expensive one?

Him: Huh?

Her: $6,000 or something?

Him: (not having a clue what she is refering to) No of course not. The one I have in mind is less than half that price.

Her: Well, you know I can't say no to you, take it out of the savings account then.

Four days gentlemen. Four days. [biggrin]

Cowboys never beg. "Plead" maybe, but never beg.

As a fulblooded metropolitan I look at this landscape in awe. It must do something special to ones frame of mind to live next to a sight like that.

A strange blend of humility and utter strength must be present right under the skin.

Wonder what animals are around.

In Aspen there are cougars aplenty, in the mountains there are bear, mountain lions, coyotes, elk, mule deer, and hermits. Of these, the most dangerous, are the cougars...

It's fantastic Duluth – I really mean it.

Have you become weird or totally balanced and sane. . . Your posts have a touch of both - - only kiddin', , , or am I. Yes I am !

Lots of animals, I'd say. Some large, that may eat you.

Hehe ha, yes thought so Nick – if I wasn't already taken by the beauty of the scenery.
