  1. It made the Strat sound awful. It's just basically a metal nut. I think the Jeff Beck Strats have them. I could see the advantage on a guitar that whammy's like a Strat, and you have a whammy on yours as well. I know it is to reduce string breakage and friction when dive bombing. I actually took the neck off a sold it and got a Warmoth one, cause they are cheaper and I think higher quality without the Fender sticker on it.
  2. If you have the guitar in hand, see if the 2 volume knobs lift up, if so then you would.
  3. No rule says you can't. You just gotta find one that fits. I had a roller nut on my Am Dlx Strat. I hated it. Try it and you make love it or hate it. Someone has to make one.
  4. Those are a nice pair of single coil goodness. Almost makes me wish I didn't swear off electrics (except my bass). My whammy bar was hardly ever on the Strats I've owned. I tried but I was never Steve Vai.
  5. I guess Gibson believes and stands by their product. Only if its in the USA though. I guess once it crosses a boarder the guitar goes through some strange twilight zone transformation? Sad

    Tonyp

Answer if its real probably- alot. 5k. Final answer.
  7. So If someone buys a Gibson in Windsor, Canada, just 3 miles or 4 of your kilometers from Detroit, MI, the warranty goes from lifetime to one year. That is shady.
  8. I swapped pups in all my electrics when I played them. Good deal.
  9. Cant see the serial either. If it is a 2010 here is what I found on CME. Built with smoldering good looks and Gibson's most durable woods, the new Les Paul Studio Silverburst will withstand the demanding lifestyle of any performing guitarist. Constructed of a mahogany body and neck, maple top and baked maple fingerboard, the new Les Paul Studio Silverburst is available only at Guitar Center and comes in the highly popular Silverburst finish. This guitar is equipped with 490R and 498T pickups for that vintage humbucking sound you demand. Exquisite details, like trapezoid fingerboard inlays and classic volume and tone knobs, complete this package.
  10. Robert Fripp sits in a chair and makes most guitarist look foolish and he is his 70's. So who says ya have to stand.
  11. If the hole has been made bigger where the plug goes in. Stew Mac makes a product called Nojack that goes in the hole and accepts the standard size shove in kind strap button. I ripped the electronics out a guitar and it worked like a charm.
  12. How do you fit them down there. That one case a family could live in.
  13. We should have a FAQ section that addresses all the FAQ's. What is my guitar worth? How many were made? What pickups should I buy? What strings are the best? How many J-45 models are there? And the list can go on and on.
  14. I saw the in 92 or 93 when they toured The Black Album and in 17 for Hardwired.
  15. Explores are rock machines. They are balanced like no other guitar. Saw Metallica twice live once in Hawaii and once in Seattle.
  16. People will tell you this wood is better with 80/20 or PB or Monels. Just try them all. I switch back an forth all the time and use 80/20 or PB. Never cared for Monel, but people do like them. Right now I've got 80/20 Martins on my guitars.
  17. That is unacceptable. I guess it got dropped or the strings were not slacked before shipping. I had a ES-335 I bought came with the neck cracked. It was brand new and went back the next day. You had better be able to get a replacement. I live in the USA and even I have heard of that store. I thought the Germans were all about efficiency? Or it was cracked before it went out and no one QA'ed it. But that is unlikely.
  18. Yep. Where do you live The Sun? I have heard of lifting on the corners, But just fell off. Either the worker got so baked at lunch he forgot to put glue on it or that is the absolute worst QA ever.
  19. Where did it come from The US or was it already in Europe and it came form a store over there. I owned an Explorer they are great guitars. Is it brand new or used?
  20. It's broken. Return it ASAP. It must have been dropped in shipment. No that is not normal. The tension on the strings are holding the headstock in place. It doesn't look cracked through but its trash. That is a huge bummer.
  21. I've owned a few acoustics and never has one fallen off. My Guild was 30+ years old when I got it and it has shrunk a bit, but fallen off, never.
