  1. In that case, I'd better order a dozen of them before they all sell out.
  2. I saw that earlier today, he was all the rage with the iconic Return To Forever band but I had no idea he had put out so many albums.
  3. I don't know what a PSA is but if this was directed at me I do have one of these models. I'll futz with it a bit later but I'm doing one better than RCT, I'm removing the pick ups and mounting them ON THE BACK of the guitar. Richard Betts ain't got nothing on me.
  4. I had some time last night so took the virtual factory tour courtesy of Gibson's home page and it was really good. It's quite the operation and is worth watching.
  5. Worked, shoveled snow, started cleaning the house and now Stupor Bowl. The Chiefs better get the lead out and play like they're supposed to.
  6. Les Paul Artisan had those fancy fret markers. Here's the old thing once again:
  7. I thought about that BB1/2 combo in the 60s Les Paul to see how much is due to the neck and how much is the pick up BUT I'm too lazy to do something like that and always keep the guitar the way they made them. Amplifiers have all sorts of tone controls so fiddle with them, instead. Stupor Bowl time so better go.
  8. I bought one of the first run of Lucille's back in 1980 when they had a regular and a Deluxe, I popped for the Deluxe (brass nut, little flip out handles on the tuners) and then they put it into a regular production which really ticked me off. I have the issue of Guitar Player where BB was on the cover and the Gibson full page ad and all. That particular guitar is long gone, stupid me, a big black one. That one in the photos must have been a REALLY special one-off for him. I think I saw those inlays on a Les Paul of some kind years ago. The Lucille weighs about as much as a blind date WITHOUT a Bigsby. I sold this one to a guy in Canada and then a year later I bought it back from him. It's not allowed to be sold again per the wife.
  9. I did see a weird one, Chuck Berry playing a Lucille but it just had that little flower pot inlay on the headstock like a 335 has. Maybe that Lucille with the F-holes was just a one-off before they got together to work on a production model.
  10. I'm not a doctor but I DID drive past a Holiday Inn Express yesterday. I think Pinch's guitar will improve with age and a lot of playing time.
  11. I've never seen a Lucille with F-holes. It might be due to the pick ups but I'd say the Lucille sounds more like a Les Paul than a 335. Weighs in like a Les Paul, too.
  12. Uh oh... I saw an intgruiging one: it looks like they're coming out with a 60s neck Gold Top Deluxe with the mini humbuckers. Depending on the routing a set of cream colored P90s would drop right in.
  13. Good thinking! That guitar is new so it'll change a bit as you break it in. I paid off that ES-345 today and it'll be on a UPS truck on Monday, worked all day and getting ready for a much needed power nap. I'm waking up stupidly early (like 3AM and am wide awake). The wife is (get this) DRIVING from PA to Seattle right now so I have the house to myself for a bit. It's her, another woman, a poodle puppy and an SUV packed to the gills and they're headed into snow and -40 wind chills. I think they're crazy. Played that Pelham Blue Firebird and decided I really like that guitar, they got that neck just about perfect for me and it's much lighter and more comfortable than the Firebird VII I've been using for the past two months. I like the color, too, it's really a change of pace.
  14. I would think you'd want a stronger grade of glue and some clamps.
  15. How about a Gibson USA Flying V where the strings go through the body like they're supposed to?
  16. That was a really good demo. I'm working up a Pink Floyd type thing: Set The ToneSuck Control For The Heart Of The Sun. Already got the Zippo lighter for the slide work. I'm just kidding, I really like the VariTone.
  17. If we meet up in the afterlife I'll let you borrow it, how's that?
  18. Thank you, everyone. Rabs is right with what I meant. I've been dreaming about this model since 1978 so... I'll do a little write up once it shows.
  19. Somebody in Lynyrd Skynrd had a 345? I didn't know that. The only people I ever saw with one was Freddie King and Elvin Bishop, I thought the guy from Be Bop Deluxe had a 335. This forced indoor time really got me thinking about all of the guitars I drooled over as a kid and then put out of my mind as I grew up and put the guitars on the back burner. I always wanted a 3 pick up SG Custom like that 60th Anniversary but in all honesty, I'd seldom play it and it would be a case queen. I KNOW this 345 will see a lot of use.
  20. Ya gotta watch them, they'll poke your eye out if you're not careful.
  21. This has been a rough pandemic on a lot of different level for everyone still above ground. I've wanted one of these since I bumped into a guy carrying a 335-ish case when I was in my early 20s and I asked if I could see what was inside it. For surviving nearly a year (mostly) trapped indoors with my wife, I decided what the hell, bite the bullet and do it SO it should be here next week. In the meantime, here's what will be on the UPS truck soon, a 2008 ES-345 with the coveted ToneSuck Device, stereo and slim neck.
  22. The woman in the purple dress (to the right of Ansley Dunbar) is famous for doing what with Jeff Beck's head?
