  1. You're missing the Firebird, you'd better get shopping.
  2. I'm pretty sure I lived in that town after the NJ DMV took my license for like the 5th time.
  3. I'll have to check with my bank account. My guess is that Gibson will price those two guitars way out of my range, even on the used market a few years down the road.
  4. Heck, I bought a 25th Anniversary Les Paul at Manny's Music not too long ago (or so it seems).
  5. It could very well be 500 people in Nazareth, that's a good sized operation and they're pretty busy. I tried to like the Mexican Martins but all the ones I tried sound pretty lifeless.
  6. It sounds like an HD-28V but in a smaller package and a thinner neck. I recall a tour guide saying Martin's biggest competition is the used Martin market and due to the sheer volume of counterfeiting they did some sort of weird thing with "the guitar's DNA" so they could read it at the factory. I would guess a chip or something similar. A guide on a later tour then said Martin slipped to #2 in the acoustic market with Gibson being in the top slot. I'd imagine that would include Epiphone in the totals. One will pop up sooner or later. There's a strong Martin contingent in PA so I'll contact one of my buddies here when I'm ready. This is such a strange time with low production and so many of us stuck at home. Right now it's finish up the electrics.
  7. That J-40 left a real favorable impression on me so who knows. It would have to be in the $1700-1900 range, though. Last time I looked they were around twice that which is too rich for my blood.
  8. Si', Senor Pepper, it was a bit of an ordeal with a moving truck and all sorts of crazy stuff. I'm going to get something really good as a reward for mental anguish and may make that my final purchase. Time to quit screwing around as life will be getting back to "normal" soon, I hope. There are two last models I have my eye on, we'll see. Maybe even throw an acoustic in there for three of a perfect pair (to coin a phrase). Actually, reptiles have clear, mostly odorless urine and snakes also pass urates which look like big Mallomars. TIme to go to work and it's still snowing. YAY, snow shoveling.
  9. There is nobody better than Jeff Beck. Thanks for posting that, it's been a while since I saw that.
  10. Happily avoided a divorce, that's a win. After much carrying on the wife is simply going to take a 3 week vacation to visit her son. This pandemic has been hard on everyone, I'm sure the attornies and therapists are booked solid. Other than that, worked 12 hours, shoveled snow three times (trudgin' across the tundra, mile after mile) and decided that I should probably buy a guitar in the near future.
  11. Audio is a very subjective thing and I recall reading a thread about how things are perceived depending upon your mood. I know if I cranked my 60s neck Standard into my big Marshall within a minute a I wouldn't be thinking about pick ups. Just let 'er rip.
  12. Imagine what it would be like if you actually still owned a Gibson? They'd burn you at the stake! As far as I know Jeff builds his own cars as a hobby.
  13. I've bought a few new ones this year and haven't found anything to complain about. The cases from Costa Rica are really heavy, I guess I could grouse about that. The guitars themselves have been fine.
  14. Lemon oil the fret board and Gibson or Virtuoso polish for the rest. Depending upon where you live a piece of wet sponge inside a perforated pill bottle inside the case might be a good idea.
  15. Cardinal Red Firebird V w/ Steinberger tuners, nickel plated Lyre tail piece, cream colored P90s and pick guard. Put the raised section back on the headstock, too.
  16. Speaking of Dweezil: https://www.gibson.com/GibsonTV/The-Collection/gtvklani7/ept93bfn
  17. I didn't see a price but I'm guessing around 7 grand. I learned a couple of new things: the guitar Peter Frampton was practically in tears about was a 335 and the guitar was stolen, not partially burned up.
  18. Seven seconds to work in the word "icon" and 36 seconds to work in "iconic". He must be slipping.
  19. The gig bag is made out of hemp so you could smoke it. Don't forget to post pics when it shows!
  20. I'll take your word for it, I'm hardly the expert. I just recall a few years ago Lenny Kaye sent me an album he was on and they made a big deal about it all being done on analog equipment due to the sound quality. He plays guitar for a living, I play guitar to entertain myself and listen to what the big boys do on my "little radio" as my wife put it.
  21. That one looks worth getting, let us know what you think when it arrives.
  22. $6600 for a Trini Lopez? Who you jivin' with that Dweezil Reverb?
  23. I know: double cut Les Paul Special, bound rosewood fret board, 2 P90s, tune-a-matic bridge in TV Yellow.
