No matter where he bought it, I’d avoid any dealer that won’t give you a pro setup after you’ve spent $5500……Perhaps they knew there was an issue and they were just wanting to dump the guitar.

I change strings when I change batteries.

It kicks mine to play with a normal guitar pack. I’ve used a thumb pick and fingers for decades and can’t get the rhythm or accuracy I want with a standard pick. My wrist and hand can’t do it. Of course, then there are the pickers who can play any style/technique with amazing speed and accuracy. I’ll never be one of them.

For me, it’s all about muscle memory. You really don’t even think about it. Your fingers just do it, depending on the rhythm of the song. I always admired Doc Watson’s picking. He was amazing. I tried, but had a tough time nailing down that steady bass note on literally every beat. One day someone asked me how I pick like I do and I wasn’t sure how to explain it and I realized I was close to what Doc Watson and others were doing. It’s kind of a mixture of alternating bass, Travis picking, patterns, hammering-on, and bass runs all mixed together. I’m nowhere near the level of Watson, but it fits what I play.

I’m with you. So long as the instrument is comfortable to my hands and fingers I’ll be fine with it. I mostly go by the nut width on a guitar. Never considered that the string spacing might be different on two guitars with the same nut width. If the nut width is anywhere near 1/72 to 1/75 I’m likely good with it. Primarily a finger picker with a thumb pick……. I can play a mandolin, but after a while my fingertips don’t like it…..lol……. I’ve always been amazed at how guys like Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Marty Stuart, etc.

I had one for about a year. Real nice guitar. Too me it was very similar to a Martin D28 in the sound department. My only issue is I didn’t like the feel of the neck and the looks were too vanilla (I like the typical Gibson look….bling/burst). Absolutely nothing wrong with the neck. Just one of those personal things for me. Sold it to a guy I knew and he loves it. Says it’s a killer guitar. For what’s it’s worth, sold the D28 too. If I wasn’t so much into guitars with a bit of flash, I’d have likely kept both.

Lars, you sound really good! This might be the best one yet. You could perform that song just like that in a lot of places and people would like it. I sincerely enjoyed it……AND, your lyrics are strong and easy for me to identify with. I really like the rhyming and the metaphors you use. This music is very relaxing and is ideal for a coffeehouse venue. I admire your dedication and determination. Keep your music alive and enjoy your life…….Good stuff.

Same here. I really enjoyed The Lord of The Rings Trilogy. Also really enjoyed “Game of Thrones.” Each movie/episode made you eager to see more. Sequels and prequels often fail to live-up to the originals. I think a lot of it has to do with the chemistry of the original cast.

That’s my point. No matter how bad they claim that this country is, they’re not about to give-up what their citizenship means.. They love to talk, but they’re not willing to suffer the consequences. Nothing is keeping them from getting on a plane and leaving for a country that hates us as much as “they” do. All one needs is a passport and they’re easy to get and then fly to a country that will accept you and denounce your birth country from there. There are numerous rich celebrities who routinely travel the world who proclaimed they would leave the country if certain people won elections and/or if certain things were not done. They are still here, even though things didn’t go their way.>………….I think most of these people would benefit to some degree by just sitting-down and playing a guitar.

And all the all the people born here who claim to hate it, all they do is talk. They don’t leave.

Some amazing guitar players. Wish I had a fraction of their talent……..Still, life is often unfair. You can let that kill your dreams and aspirations or you can keep striving to be “you.” Sure, I wish I had their skills (they are outstanding!), but I’m me and at this stage of my life I’m happy and pretty satisfied with what I do. I’m an adequate guitar player and I think my music (songs) fit well with the coffeehouses and wineries I play and I suspect their talents and music fit well for what they do.

Just remember! A crowded elevator smells very different to a midget.

I don’t watch the Olympics anymore. It’s boring ‘and even worse, it’s political. Maybe I’ll watch if they have people boxing an Alaskan Grizzly or wrestling with a Reticulated Python.

I can’t put exactly into words what I mean by loud, woody, mellow, crisp, bright, muddy, etc. All I know is that when I hear it I know I’m hearing it and if I like that particular degree of sound than I’m more likely to feel that I could live with that guitar. I’ve got to feel that a guitar is an extension of who I am by enhancing the sound and mood I want with my songs. The attributes of a particular sound depends on who is listening to it. You might hear something as too quiet while I think it’s nice and mellow, and we’re both correct in our own personal way.
