  1. That guy has some very serious skills. Very, very impressive. No way in the world I could do that.
  2. You missed us? You are truly a glutton for punishment.
  3. Looks like Will and Jada’s marriage is open for everything, except jokes.
  4. That’s pretty cool! Takes a lot of “know how” and dedication to run a successful restaurant. Tough business, especially in these times.
  5. Damn! I guess they got tired of my videos. Or, it might have been a Russian cyber attack.
  6. Yes, travel safely. Sorry for your family’s loss.
  7. Things I believe all of us have learned or at least been reminded of. 1. Don’t believe it can’t happen to you. 2. History DOES repeat itself. 3. Government leaders continuously lie. 4. There are the “elites” who make the rules, and then there is “us” who must follow them.
  8. Really good job, Bud! Sweet bird! As always…… As far as teeth are concerned, my mom had great teeth and all but one of them when she died at 93. My dad had bad teeth his entire life and I seem to be following his path. I’ve got 19-20 of the original 32 and having issues with some of those survivors. I imagine a bunch of us in here know where you’re coming from……. So long as I can chew steak, I’ll be okay.
  9. I totally agree! Not just a studio band, but a great touring band.
  10. I only have acoustics and I couldn’t pick just one guitar. At one time it was easily my Gibson Hummingbird, but over all these years all the other Gibsons have also earned my attention. My favorite guitar is likely which ever one I happen to be playing. Today at my weekly gig, I had a blast with my J45TV. I love all of them.
  11. Looking-forward to seeing and hearing it on here, Dave. I have no doubt that it will be awesome……..BTW, since it’s an Elvis model, I think a nice touch would be for you to hang a pair of panties from the headstock.
  12. It’s all changing. Including us…..It’s good to remember the “good old days” and realize that for some people that these are the “good old days.” Sometimes it’s hell to get older, but it beats the alternative. Don’t know where I’m going with this…lol…I guess the closing-down of this iconic place makes me sad. Someday, Sun Studios and other legendary places will also be gone.
  13. Maybe the best alternative is to become Amish and get some real horsepower.
  14. Got my old Gretsch squareneck out today. Slide is fairly easy with open D tuning (even for me), so, as I await 7-8 inches of snow starting later tonight I’m working on some easy chord shapes for open tuning to mix-in with the slides. Working-up the courage to take this to one of my gigs. I know I would be fine with it, but I’m just so damn comfortable with my Gibsons…..But, I do love the sound of a resonator.
  15. Congrats, but sorry, no free guitar. However in recognition of your achievement all you have to do is go to the nearest Casey’s Store and for only $1.60 you can get a cup of coffee. Also, they still offer gasoline under $7 per gallon.>…………….Time to starting aiming for 20,000 posts.
  16. Life is so damn unpredictable! With all the rough roads your family has been on, sure seems like it’s time you get a break. I hope to God your in-laws are okay and get back home soon…. You and your wife hang in there. The sun will shine again.
  17. Last night at a gig, someone compared my voice to Dean Martin’s. They said that compared to Dean Martin I sound like ****.
  18. Well, my girlfriend left me. She said that I’m too “old fashioned.” Then, two days later I find out she’s been trifling, courtin’ and playing pitch n’ woo with some rambler.
  19. Always like this band and I like your rendition of their songs. And the Dove is super cool. You play well!
  20. Mental Health professionals say that folding laundry while you’re naked is a good relaxation therapy. They may be correct, but I’ll never do it again at the laundromat.
  21. Glad things are looking okay. Just be careful with anything wet around electricity.
  22. Yep, just play it and don’t sweat “the old wives”tales. So long as you’re treating it like a valued guitar, it will be fine. Take it to gigs or somewhere outside your house. Have fun. That’s what it’s for.
  23. Nice CALIFORNIAMAN. Thanks for posting. Hadn’t heard this before. I wrote this years ago after losing one of our dogs. OLD DOGS (G) I have a (Am) friend who is (D7) dying.....(C) known him for (D7)12-years or (G) so. (G) 12-years is a (Am) fraction of (D7) my life, but a (C) lifetime as a (D7) dog's life (G) goes. (G) We used to (Am) walk in the (D7) evening. We'd (C) walk for a (D7) mile sometimes (G )more. Now (G) we barely (Am) leave the (D7) front porch....and he's (C) pulling me (D7)back to the (G) door. (C) He used to (D7) bark at strange (G) noises and (C) people that (D7) he didn't (G) know. Now (C) he just (D7) stares into (G) space. I (C) doubt that he'll (D7) see the next (G) snow. Chorus...... Yes Lord, (C) old dogs are hard to let (G) go of. They (C) kind of take root in your (G) soul. They (C) grow-up inside of your (G) heart....and (D) then you can't let them (G) go. And (C) Lord, there's just one more (G) thing, (C) that I think you ought to (G) know: If (C) my old dog ain't up there in (G) heaven, (D) I don't think I want to (G) go. (G) Trips to the (Am) vet are more (D7) often. The (C) vet frowns and (D7) says "He's not (G) good." I might have to (Am) make a de(D7)cision. (C) Lord, I don"t the (D7) know if I (G)could. At night I (Am) sit on the (D7) sofa and (C)he rests his (D7)head on my (G) knee. He stares in(Am)to my (D7)face (C)as if he's trying to (D7)speak to (G)me. So (C) I look in(D7)to his (G)eyes. I (C) hear his jaws (D7) squeak when he (G)yawns. And (C) I know what (D7) he'd like to (G) say, "Who will (C) take care of (D7) you when I'm (G) gone?" Chorus......
