  1. A seven year old goes to his little girlfriends father and says "Sir I need to talk to you - I'd like to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage." The father, humoring him says "Before I could grant you that I have a few questions. If you were to get married where would you plan to live?" The youngster replies "Well, Susy's bedroom is a little bigger than mine at home, so we thought we would live there". The father then asks " If you are married, how will you support my daughter?" The little guys replies "I get a $7 a week allowance and Susy gets $10 a week. We did the math and that comes out to more than $200 per year which should be plenty." Finally the father says "Usually when two people get married pretty soon along come some little ones. How will you handle that?" The kid replies "Well, we've been lucky so far."
  2. I have one that I bought new in 2020. I haven't played the standard or 60s fixed bridge historic so cannot tell you how they compare. I do love mine, to me it sounds like a Hummingbird should. Cosmetically it came flawless from Sweetwater. I tend to put 80/20 bronze strings on which gives it a little brighter (but not much) sound than the phosphor strings. I like it so much that a year later when I found a limited run maple body version I bought that as well. I love them both, but the original is the one I play most often.
  3. Serial number should be on the back of the headstock. If it is not there, something is wrong.
  4. I don't see what is so special about it. It's a 2019 ES335 that has a 125th anniversary logo on the headstock. The quote from Gibson says they don't know how many they made so no one on this forum will know either. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful guitar but in reality, it's a 3 year old 335 with a fancy headstock. For my money that doesn't make it worth anywhere near $30K. OK it's considered rare because they only made few - but is there anything else special about it? Does it have unique pickups, a special neck carve, special woods for body or neck? The fact is a used guitar is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. I say play it and enjoy it and don't worry about its rarity or supposed value.
  5. I have found that a Medicare Advantage plan works well for me. Co-pays are reasonable although they can vary if you need a specialist. My doctor is in the network, so no copay when I go there. Local hospital is also in the network. I take five different meds per day and they are covered. And best of all the premium is zero - you just pay the Medicare premium that they deduct from your social security check anyway so no additional cost. To me that makes up for a few co-pays during the year. If your doctor and/or local hospital are not in the plan's network it would not work as well for you. Figuring out all the options on your own is pretty tough to do. An insurance agent that specializes in Health Insurance can be a great help. They work with it all day every day and depending on your health history can make a recommendation that will work best for you at the lowest cost. It's free advice as they are paid a commission from whoever they place you with and it's a lot easier than trying to figure out the myriad of option by yourself.
  6. Looks nice, but it is questionable. Blue body with green neck, and the ornate purfling are suspect. One sure sign of a fake is what is under the truss rod cover. Easy enough to check.
  7. I've seen all the episodes now, and it's getting better. It does skip around quite a bit and they have changed some actresses as they have aged. Nice that the princess had her gay husband murdered and married her uncle. Maybe all the inbreeding is what led to the "Mad King" in GOThrones 😮
  8. Thanks guys I'll give it try with a new micro-fiber cloth. Half an hour later: worked like charm, slick as ice!! Thanks again for the tips.
  9. Not familiar with the band, but sounds like a good time - have fun.
  10. I've got a Gibson with a nitro finish that has a sticky neck and it's been that way for a couple years. I've polished and cleaned it many times but it remains sticky so I want to try the lighter fluid trick on it, but I've never used it before. Wondering how to apply it? Cotton swab, microfiber cloth, cu-tips? Do you wipe if off after or just let it evaporate? A few tips from those that have done it would be appreciated.
  11. I can't tell from the video what type of wood it is, but strange story anyway. Brand new LP Custom, stripped off the finish and the serial number? Doesn't make sense.
  12. I don't play electrics much anymore, but I didn't care for the faded Cherry LP, it looks a little pink on the videos I've seen. I like the look of the acoustics a lot. The lighter tan look of the back and sides of the Hummingbird appeals to me, as does the top of the J-45. The guys at Music Villa did a video and they thought that because there was less finish the guitars sounded "woodier" than full finish nitro. Also, with less finish and buffing they are a little cheaper than the standard finish models. So, I'd have to say it's a step in the right direction on the acoustic side, looks great, sounds great, and is less expensive!
  13. Nothing going on in Upstate SC yet. We had 20-30 mph wind yesterday, but today while overcast the wind is pretty calm and no rain yet. Fingers crossed for you.
  14. LPSTU is for Les Paul studio and I'm pretty sure the CH is for Chrome hardware, not sure about the rest. Once you decode it, it will make perfect sense and you'll wonder why you couldn't have figured it out earlier.
  15. Yes, it's Duesenberg and the guys that use them swear by them. From what I understand they use the existing holes in the guitar top and you can take it off and put the original bridge back on if you like and there is no damage to the guitar.
  16. Probably has something to do with the 23.5 inch scale length.
  17. Here's one of Mihcmac guitars. From the big D on the tailpiece I'd guess it's made by Dunlap?
  18. Sorry, I apologize. I overlooked the fact that you are in Ireland. Also sorry I have no suggestion on how to solve your problem. I played an SG for several years, but it had no trem at all so not familiar with what might work. There is a fellow on this forum (Mihcmac) who puts a non-invasive (easy to reverse) trem on all his guitars, maybe PM him.
  19. The main distinguishing feature of a '61 reissue with sideways vibrola is the sideways vibrola. If you don't like the guitar's main feature, I'd say trade it for something you do like. There are millions of SGs available.
  20. Not a school teacher, but there was an older Scottish bloke that worked at my Dad's factory and he told me one day "Toools were meant to be ooosed, not abused". I don't know why, maybe because it rhymed, I always remembered that. Another good one my Grandad told me was "never gamble unless you can afford to lose". Seems my teachers over the years didn't have great quotes or least not ones I remember. Heard a good one on the TV series "Industry" a week or so ago. There was an older guy on the trading floor that was secretly a heroin addict. One of the other workers found out about it and confronted him. He said, "it's not an addiction if you can afford it". Never thought of addiction that way - and not sage advice, but memorable nonetheless.
  21. Kirk is going to put on a lot of weight if he has to go to 50 "curated dinners" with buyers of this guitar.
  22. Try posting in the Epiphone forum on this site and you may have better luck.
  23. Hi Anita and welcome - first flute player I've hear that also sang (not at the same time I'm guessing) 🤣
  24. Every year there is a sailing race from Chicago to Mackinaw Island and the night before the race the Yacht Club has a big party. We got the gig one year and set up outside on a big patio right on the lake shore. Beautiful setting and perfect weather. About halfway through the first set we see black storm clouds rolling up from the south. When I saw the first crack of lightening flash we finished the song and started tearing down. Moved all the equipment inside and finished the party there. Loading in, setting up, tearing down and loading out is a big enough pain, but having to shut down and move everything in the middle of a set really sucked!

So I'd say a very good friend and a fair deal all around 👍
