  1. Sure. That's correct that on a "right-handed" guitar it IS the left hand that creates most the music. And I remember over the years that pianists always revered the piano players that had a "good left hand". And I often wondered if I started out learning to play left handed on a guitar that was strung for left handed play if I might have become a better guitar player. I'll never know that, so I quit worrying about it long ago. Whitefang
  2. "Come Fly With Me"--Frank Sinatra Whitefang
  3. If AI is gonna use the internet to expand it's "knowledge" I guess we ARE doomed. 🙄 Whitefang
  4. I have that book(somewhere around here) and had it for years. And much of it described me to a "T". especially the visual images when dealing with numbers and days and dates. For instance, when I think of say, next Tuesday, in my mind I see the numbered squares of a wall calendar. With the second square having a thicker border. I still have two coffee mugs my wife got me..... One says, "Hire the left handed. It's fun to watch them write." And.... "Everybody is born right handed. But only the greatest are able to overcome it." And that book was how I learned that Glen Campbell was left handed. But he played guitar RIGHT HANDED. Didn't seem to be a liability, eh? Whitefang
  5. I avoided that by having a bathroom in the basement. It was already in the house when we bought it. I wouldn't go through that expense just to avoid the pool installers using my bathroom. And if the cost to rent a porta John isn't too unreasonable, it might be a consideration. I remember when me and the ex had our pool put up.(an above ground pool), we made the error of going with the lowest estimate and the crew showed up at 8:00 in the morning. The crew chief, a guy a few years younger than me, was standing at the door, weaving unsteadily, eyes looking like he spent several hours in a chlorine pool and a dopey grin on his face, with the aroma of some fine Colombian gold surrounding him, and looking over at his truck, the rest of his crew was surrounded by a thick cloud of smoke reminiscent of Spicoli's van in "Fast Times". And in a Tommy Chong type voice he said, "Like we're here to put up your poool man...." I told him, "I'm afraid not." and suggested he go home and get some snacks and sleep it off. Now, I wasn't(at that time in my life) opposed to getting buzzed and having a good time, but if I was in that line of work, I'd at least wait until the job was done. Whitefang
  6. I still have a land line, but not perfect pitch. I CAN tell it is two tones though. But what keys I couldn't say. And are you sure it's a Bb and not an A#? Whitefang
  7. You were out of order there, Evans "Miles From Nowhere"--Cat Stevens Whitefang
  8. Hey... My ex brother in law still has a few of these; And this to play 'em on; Plus he told me he still has that "first edition" LED digital wristwatch he paid $150.00 for in 1973. Whitefang Now, let's see if you can come up with an intelligent sounding reason to delete THIS reply, mods.
  9. I long thought of Gilmour as a competent guitarist, but never the "God" some people seemed to think he was. But this was impressive. I mean, how many people that were long known as singers seemed to have lost a bit or more of their moxie over the passing years? Yet this person, never(to my knowledge) known or considered as a "singer" displays a voice of pure silk. Whitefang
  10. The bass player in the first band I was in was a buddy of mine who paid $20 for the bass he played and he had absolutely no previous experience on any musical instrument. But me and the other guitar player in the band showed him what to do in each song in our then small repertoire. He was one reason why I liked the movie THAT THING YOU DO. He left the band in August of '68 when he went into the marines. We eventually found a guy who played bass exclusively and was pretty good at it too. I never owned a bass but did have fun noodling around on them now and then. Hope you have tons of fun on your new acquisition. Whitefang
  11. "Sugar Town"--Nancy Sinatra Whitefang
  12. Well, them being expensive is why I DON'T have a Martin! Whitefang
  13. Y'know Notes, I had a similar pain in BOTH hips, I'd describe it as being painful from mid butt cheek to just above the knee in both legs. Turned out to be a facet cyst in one of my vertebrae pressing against the spinal cord. Required surgery as no diet would ever work at getting rid of it. Righ now, the middle finger of my right hand feels stiff whenever I try to make a fist. And when my hand is closed in a certain way the finger "locks" in the bent position until with extra force I get it to "snap" out of being bent. the "snap" is more of an action as there's no "snap" sound involved. My doctor only said it was some form of arthritis. But as it's not chronically painful I consider it more of an annoyance than anything else. Even after the spinal fusion surgery I had(there were other issues besides the cyst) the pain in my legs is gone, but my lower back is weak and with just enough pain to make walking without aid difficult, but not as painful as before. And of course, there's that nagging Lymphedema to deal with. Whitefang
  14. I always thought they should change Alexa's name to "Orewella". Whitefang
  15. "Evil Woman"--Spooky Tooth. Whitefang
  16. Y'know, every time I vent this rant people mistakenly think I'm somehow against technological advances. I'm really not, IF those advances are advantageous to ALL of mankind. And not only to a few niche interests. Plus I'd prefer to at least be allowed to be able to have a choice in some matters. I'm really disappointed that seemingly the mass of American public has willingly bent over and allowed the electronics market control them, the consumers. It really should be the other way around. People shouldn't have to resort to scouring through thrift shops, yard sales, eBay or the like to find the CD players, DVD players tape players or other audio/visual components they prefer to use. Whitefang
  17. So, if you can remember it, why didn't you tell us? Whitefang
  18. PBS here used to show The Rolling Stone's Rock and Roll Circus. but for me it had too much emphasis on the "circus". Whitefang
  19. Our local PBS station brought Python to the Detroit area in the early '70's. Been a fan ever since. They also showed the early Canadian episodes of "Second City" for several years before NBC picked it up in '80 and showed it to the rest of America. But I've always liked irreverent social satire and "off the left field wall" type of humor(or in this case, humour). and Python filled that prescription extremely well. Whitefang
  20. Not a bad deal, Butch. But if GM had the same set up it wouldn't have made any difference since we were both GM workers. And does that "spouses" thing work both ways? For instance, if SHE was the railroad worker and you had some different occupation, would YOU get half of her railroad pension? Or was it based on the archaic belief that the spouse is probably the "little woman" who spends her life at home, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen? Whitefang
  21. Interesting. I'm only familiar with the Brook Benton song. Anyway...... "Butterfly"--Corinne Bailey Rae Whitefang
  22. They never do. But watch the clip all the way and you'll see they both agreed to $90,000. Ford's nephew originally asked for $250,000! Whitefang
  23. I remember that show. And he did sell it. $90,000 Whitefang
