  1. Bigger gauge strings is more tension. If you go from a 10-46 set to a 11-52 set with the SAME tuning, you'll have a LOT more tension on the neck. That's why it's good to check what the combined tension will be when you change string gauges and tunings.
  2. I have. I think I had to flip a saddle for extra intonation range but other than that, no probs. I used 11-52 strings, which is probably a little on the light side for B standard, but they worked fine with the bridge and nut (guitar came with 46-9 hybrid set), and I could switch back to E standard with 10-42 gauge strings years later and it was fine. I use Big Bends Nut Sauce in the nut slots. Use this to calculate string tension and adjust the truss rod accordingly: https://www.mcdonaldstrings.com/stringxxiii.html. I think B standard and 11-52 was less tension than E standard and 9-46 strings, if I remember correctly.
  3. I'm thinking of sitting in an alley with a bottle of rotgut wine, yelling at strangers. Just for the social interaction.
  4. I came here and was bummed the Ghost of FL vs. Black Dog fight was terminated. I didn't think it was particularly political. Personal, yes.
  5. Not sure, but the next of kin rule applies. Not that I own that much gear. But sell it off and buy whatever you want.
  6. I would suggest at Fauci's place. But make sure they address him with his full CDC title and shoe size.
  7. There was nothing to indicate the barrier method of protection wouldn't work. As evidenced by the urgent need of the medical staff of masks that were supposedly useless. Come on.
  8. Yes. But how do I trust a supposed contagion expert who tells people surgical masks are useless when they're not, and centuries of research would show that they at least with a very high probability protects you when used correctly? And then he changes his tune. I understand he was probably trying to cease hoarding. Me, I have a saying: lie to me once as an official, and I'll never listen to you again.
  9. I meant pathogenesis and this, that and the other rather than antibody immunity.
  10. That's where I stopped listening to him as far as this. It was advice on par with cow dung for flesh wounds. And I'm pretty sure he knew.
  11. You'll find that frontline physicians often know a lot more than deskboard big wigs.
  12. Black Dog: but do we know enough about this group of viruses to implement herd immunity as a strategy? If not, gdecant has a good point. Gdecant: I understand you've had this affect you personally. Don't mistake Black Dog's at times seemingly detached style here for arrogance. It comes w/ the territory in medicine, where you'd go crazy (and irrational, which causes irreparable damage) if you didn't adopt a helicopter perspective. Hope I didn't offend anyone. If I did, I hope I did it thoroughly. I think maybe we should grant this thread amnesty from the no-politics rule. A lot of people are going through a lot, and there's a lot of fear. Let's allow venting, and let's give each other space to vent.
  13. I kind of agree with all of you simultaneously here. Let's not lose our heads.
  14. I last posted in this thread on Monday. ... This is my brain on quarantine.
  15. Much like with tequila, it's not so much the taste as it is the after-effects. Tequila is a recipe for disaster.
