  1. There are 2. This MIK D'Angelico Deluxe DC in chameleon finish which has been reduced a couple of times (just raised up again). I haven't tried it out (yet). The only thing that puts me off is it has Seymour Duncan pickups. This MIJ Fender Esprit (Elite version. about 1985). Too late now. I've just checked and its been sold.
  2. I have an aged and pretty cheap 'General Keyboard' model. Only the piano & organ voices are remotely believable. I use it exclusively for recording. The transpose function is useful for someone like myself who can only play in very few keys. I have tried to find something better in the past, but no luck so far. I find the tech complicated!
  3. Glad to hear it. They are beautiful guitars.
  4. Yes. The Red Arrows had done a 'fly past' as thanks/acknowledgement around the time I transferred to Hamble. The Gnat was the last complete aircraft we produced. This is the one near the to the site main entrance in Hamble Lane
  5. Production Engineering for the machine shop. Started as machinist at B.A. Weybridge (also the site of the Brooklands racing circuit) with my Dad. Have worked on all manner of military & civil projects, both UK and USA. Happiest working closer to shop floor TBH. Made working visits to most UK Aerospace sites at some point.
  6. If the Pelham Blue SG is singing the siren song to you, I say go for it 👍
  7. There's another Southampton Spitfire Tribute Replica in Hamble Lane. Not as large (its about 4.5ft wingspan) on the roadside commemorating the ATA. The aluminium model was made by G.E. Aviation (formerly AHL and originally Follands Aircraft founded in 1936) also in Hamble Lane. I retired from there 2 years ago with 37 years service. Of course the factory also made actual Spitfire assemblies (15,000 of them) during WW2. All that was well before my time of course, nevertheless it was a buzz for us to have some sort of continuity link when that project came our way.
  8. I made this mistake with a Jackson Elite. I didn't realise what I had taken on. Never again.
  9. That weight is a surprise to me. I thought teles had less body bulk than LPs. It's even heavier than my solid maple strat!
  10. I get the impression it was more of a proposal rather than a full plan. Very interesting quotes in there though.
  11. Certainly. I had a Qingdao Epi Casino Coupe too. My response to RobinTheHood should not be considered out of context. As my original post here testifies, I have 2 Chinese guitars that I am very happy with. I would also rather see the country of manufacture clearly stated on all instruments. eg: 'Proudly Crafted in the PRC' is the way to go.
  12. In 1996 (ish) replaced my USA Strat with a MIJ Jackson Soloist. That became my working guitar for 16 years. I'd never experienced design & build quality like it. These days I have a Fujigen built CoolZ Tele also. It has the sweetest voice and is so comfortable to play.
  13. That looks good. Makes me want to pick it up and play! Nice score. Enjoy 👍
  14. They are allowed to build excellent quality guitars. I would paraphrase your quote as 'China will build to what ever quality level they can get away with'.
  15. It does seem that your nitro has not fully cured.
  16. As for the signature, the seller should adjust the price according to whatever provenance he is providing. Provenance of course being 'a measure of evidence'. For example, is there a photo a Slash signing this guitar? That in itself would not be proof, but it would be supporting evidence. The more provenance = the more money he is entitled to ask. Without any provenance, the seller should not, IMO, ask any more than the regular 2nd hand book price for the guitar.
  17. Hi, I never got used to my Strat either. Even though I used it exclusively for 23 years. I have missed the Fender tones though. I now have both non-Fender Strat and Tele. These are much more playable. I also agree about the Gibsons. Feel great. Very natural and ergonomic. Welcome to the forums
  18. Puts me in mind of the SongStuff music forum. A whole regiment of Colins looking for 'someone' to set their words to music.
  19. Yeah, all those graduated guitar tops!
  20. I have two. A Hagstrom Duece and a Hofner HCT-J17. The Hagstrom needed new switch, pots, wiring and O/P jack. Since then its been a reliable working guitar and a pleasure to use. The Hofner doesnt work for its keep, so no mods. It has a beautiful ebony fingerboard.
  21. That's the sort of top I would prefer!
  22. It looks like a redesign from here. If they are the same scale, your neck pickup should be further from the fingerboard, but it's closer than the 22 fretter!
  23. The Epi S310 : I had a look at some pics. It looks like they didnt replicate the 7.25" rad. It looks flatter than that. String spread looks the same though. That was a more recent one from China. However, I then found this which is 1989 MIK. The rad doesnt look as flat and its also got 22 frets. reverb £150
  24. Yes. What Hector said. I have adapted to most necks. From the massive classical nylon models to thin electric ones. My favourite electric guitar has a massive thick & wide neck. Because of its bulk it also makes the guitar neck dive. I have assumed that this neck design is part of the price you have to accept for unfettered access to 24 frets. Its certainly not the most comfortable neck in use, but I somehow seem to manage it ok. However, when I tried out a PRS Silver Sky, which is by no means an extreme nor unusual design, it felt nasty, awkward and difficult. Well, most neck designs can be worked with but occasionally some just cannot. Even after 23 years of use, I never became accustomed to the traditional Fender (1970s USA Strat) neck. Mostly to do with the excess edge rolling, the tight radius and the string spread. The most comfortable neck I have ever played is a MIJ Tele style guitar. Designed & built by Fujigen. It just feels like its made for my hand.
