  1. The Squier Elite is Korean built. I was lucky enough to compare it side by side to the Fender version at time of buying (the Fender wasn't for sale). There was nothing to separate them in terms of feel and handling. That in itself is a remarkable testament to the builders of both instruments, separated by culture, 600 miles and 13 years. Though of course the seller had set up both himself. They sound very Gibsonesque. Not at all like Fenders. The Fender has Schaller pickups and the Squier anonymous 'Duncan Designed'. I even put Fender specced single coils into mine, but it still sounds nothing like a Fender. 😄 The hardwear is cheaper but usable (gigged several times). Nevertheless I changed much of it anyway, pretty much ensuring its status as a keeper. This is it (pre-mod) condition. It's now truly international; with a Japanese bridge, English pickups and German tuners.
  2. I didnt know about Epi 'strats'. I was thinking of the Gibson Victory. The guitar I have now decided to leave alone (I think...) is a Fender Master series Esprit (think Robben Ford). These are pretty rare 80s MIJ models built by Fujigen. There is a white one waiting on some Schaller spares at the moment but will be offered for sale when complete. I have a much later Squier version.
  3. Too little. £85 ?! Did you negotiate this? That's less than 10% of what I'm looking at. Will you be my negotiator? 🤑
  4. Of course we know that Gibson and Fender have copied each others designs before and each gave up the idea PDQ. So there are a few of these out there and I know the whereabouts of one right now. Yes, I'm trying to resist pursuing it.
  5. It doesn't matter. Go for the best sounding one. If none stand out tone wise, then go for the best handling one. Still no winner? Go for the nicest colour... etc
  6. Well it sounds less consistent that I would be comfortable with. I would not be tempted to store guitars in a conservatory.
  7. Judging by your pic I'm not sure. I suggest removing the back panel and examining inside too. Measure the depth of the routed cavity and see if it matches the suspected crack position. Even if it is a crack, I doubt its very serious. I see no reason for it to spread as there is no stress point here. If it is a crack, it most likely was caused by impact. That's why its a good idea to check inside too because the cavity is the logical weak point.
  8. I've not seen this sort of thing before, but it appears to be a deliberate feature. Where the binding meets the nut, it stops and a packing pieces applied to fill the gaps. What is between these triangular bits of 'binding' is hopefully more of the nut. Someone more familiar may be able to shed more light about this. The 'red paint' just looks like body finish that has leached into the binding area a little. Nothing to worry about IMO.
  9. Hi Nandith, Yes. You must set your own criteria for earning though. No one can do this for you. Good luck
  10. Had many sets of Hankooks (and a couple of Dunlops) over many years. Excellent tyres.
  11. Well worth the wait! He can do this without bending down.
  12. My son has just returned from his 1st festival. 3 days at Reading. I haven't been there since I was his age. But Woodstock will always remain the festival.
  13. I would get a Helix. Everything about them seems right for me. The only reason I haven't is that I'm still really happy with the HDPod I already use. Part of the reason is that I am lazy, and I have already set up banks of tones/EQ tailored to each working guitar I have. These are the best sounds I have had in 49 years of playing. Could the Helix do better? It almost certainly could, but by how much? How much would be noticable? And would the punters notice at all? I have never found any signal processor (I used BOSS GT5 for ages) that is usable 'as is'. The default FX tones/patches are extreme & designed for demo appeal. They are not remotely usable live. They typically will be boomy and induce feedback. If you really like a particular one, you can dial out some of the FX, gain and any other excess with a little practice. I have designed my own tones from scratch and could probably replicate the process on the Helix. Suffice to say there would be work to do after the initial trying out of the default on board sounds.
  14. Hello Gonna need to see photos Thanks
