  1. I’ve peeked at the Ric forum before and FZ is definitely right.. Ric has gotta be the least watered down of any guitar related brand from the old days though. Theres Chickenbacker
  2. Those do look excellent. Lots of really nice looking stuff there. I didn’t realize Ric changed one of the pickups on their basses
  3. Listened to the album 3 times today and it’s great. In my naivety I thought Hank Williams Jr wrote Ain’t Misbehavin. Love the Hanks btw.. anyway loved Leon’s version and after hearing that I googled and see the song was written in 1929. Always loved that chord progression, and the way Leon plays it, there’s kindof an odd stop that’s interesting. Gonna have to learn that guitar part, seems like an important “standard” to know
  4. I’m gonna see if I can play that on the way to work. Never heard of Redbone but with Steve Gadd and your recommendation, I’m sure I’ll love it
  5. You could always do it if you wanted to. I’m not making a ton of money relatively speaking and I’m able to live comfortably here If you’re ever really thinking about doing it, I could definitely set you up with a nice job as an electrician here in Orange County at the beach From what I understand you’re more than qualified for most any electrical job out here, shouldn’t be difficult at all to find work right now
  6. Do you have a square to spare?
  7. I had seen those too. Also read that Andrés Segovia requested that a set be made with nylon treble strings and gut bass strings. That seems like it was a popular option as well From what I’ve read they have a softer sound with shorter sustain, but for $100 I’d be worried they may not last long
  8. I’m sittin here sippin on a beer looking at my Martin 00-18g and I’m wondering... Does anyone out there still use actual “gut” strings? Is there a brand of strings that might be particularly interesting for classical? I’ve already asked about nylon strings here before. Gotta ask again because there is not enough talk about these things to satisfy my interest 🙂 Looking at google there appear to be some “gut” strings available which I am curious about. Generally speaking I am quite enamored with the sound of my guitar with the humble daddarios but it’s always worth trying something else I guess
  9. Why not change it back then?
  10. I was obsessed with pedals before but now I rarely even set them up. I like having pedals for certain sounds when I need them, but I have a ton of stuff I need to sell
  11. I’m pretty good at using a looper but haven’t really done it since I’ve gotten more into recording at my rented studio and can’t play with an amp at my apt

I forgot about these. Always thought they seemed cool. Does the oscillation work with a footswitch like the one I built you or is it just the toggle switch? aesthetically it reminds me of the Ibanez Standard fuzz
  13. Wouldn’t it be a bad idea to use stainless steel strings on nickel/silver frets anyway? Not a fan of Elixir over here.
  14. Interesting! I’ve personally never seen mahogany with such wavy grain. I initially thought bubinga because that wavy grain and color look like the fretboard on my Ric Love that inlay on the back as well. The checkers also remind me of Ric! Don’t think I’ve ever played a 25 1/2” acoustic
  15. Wow that looks cool!! Is that back bubinga?

So happy for you Tman and that back looks amazing. I’ve never seen so many butterflies in SoCal before this year. I wonder why that is? It’s really cool but I’ve smashed a few on my windshield unfortunately
  18. Well at least it can’t be completely true since Gibson only inlays or silkscreens the logo, never decals I can’t find any info to support Larry’s claim but who knows
  19. Thought this was cool looking and reminded me of Rabs’ builds https://www.themusiczoo.com/products/gibson-spirit-ii-sunburst-1983?cmp_id=673876529&adg_id=55747456220&kwd=&device=m&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7dfpitaT4gIVw77ACh2VpgLUEAEYASACEgJeA_D_BwE
  20. Nice to see you! Got any cool builds or art pieces you want to share?
  21. Missed that! Lookin fantastic btw
  22. I’m not Rabs but he didn’t use any stain. That is Birchwood Casey tru oil which Rabs uses as the finish, ie no additional clear coat Any clear coat will darken the color like Rabs has shown
  23. You can buy a radiused sanding block or buy a pre radiused/slotted or even pre fretted board from stewmac or eBay
