  1. Thank you - yes, real '67, came to me in the condition it's in, cracked and repaired, non original pickups, but rest seems original. Guess I don't need original original for the pickups, but something that would be a facsimile... but then again, if i'm going to do something, should do it right. Angus Young is my favorite SG player (although the ACDC sound is really not what I'm going for these days) - guess I should figure out what he used.
  2. Started a new job a couple weeks back and went for a walk exploring the area at lunch. Came upon this sculpture on the edge of a local park... rumor has it, in the summer there's music in the commons at lunchtime on Fridays - not a bad way to spend lunch hour 🙂 Also was looking for ways to occupy myself over the winter months, wanted to get a model but the wife and I made a pact at fiscal responsibility, so I decided to see what I could make out of some scrap mahogany and oak I had laying around and came up with this. Just added the final coat of oil, with luck she'll have wheels on tomorrow!
  3. Hi all - I've got (my wife has) a '67 SG where somewhere along the line someone put in Seymore Duncan p'ups... if I wanted to get back to original type specs, what p'ups would I put in it. I don't know anything more than the current ones are Seymore Duncans so not much help but does anyone have thoughts on how swapping the p'ups would affect sound? ps - i don't have any issues w/ how the current ones sound, just think getting back to traditional would be cool.
  4. That looks exactly like my very first guitar, bought new circa 1980 for about $150 or so. Now I miss it! Enjoy! Question, would you ever gig with it?
  5. Love the British Baking Show! We watch mostly Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu... with the key to finding something is finding a series with a lot of seasons. Just finished a new 1 season show on netflix 'locke and key' - pretty good, felt they sold out the season finale though.
  6. get another cup, stare out the window and think of all the places you went right... then pick up a guitar.
  7. Thank you both, very much appreciate the input. Rgds - br
  8. Hey Folks - Here's a 60s era J50 at a local shop. Not really in a place to buy, but I'm going to go check it out (interested in how it sounds with that bridge). $1499 seems very low IMO - any big words of caution or things I should look for when I check it out. If it is a good deal and anyone wants it... it's fair game IMO. Thanks for any input...
  9. I'm just finishing up the second week of a new job... by my math 748 more to retirement.
  10. interested to see your results... more alarming is you've got a few frets to take care of, on the D41?!? I thought you got that new.
  11. Aint no rest for the wicked - Cage the Elephant Minnie the moocher - Cab Calloway
  12. I'd tie a counter weight to the other strap button. Just kidding, I don't have a 335 - been jonesing for one, but the neck dive would be a bummer.
  13. PB - I'm lost with most of what you're saying and don't have the ears to notice specifically what changed, but feel I can tell something did change, for the better - and I think it's freakin' amazing. Looking forward to future recordings!
  14. Haven't seen a memorable halftime show since Bruno Mars... but it was a halftime show that introduced me to him.
  15. I'm on the J4 bandwagon. I do believe getting to play one first is best, but if that's not realistic I would order from a reputable dealer online w/ a good return policy. Wildwood guitars out of Colorado and Fullers out of Texas are two dealers I'd look at.
  16. Nice PB! Hoping you can redo a couple clips you did with the old set up and put up an A/B at some point... if you're sitting around wondering what to do now that your home project is done 🙂
