  1. I do like to have a tuning fork on hand, but my favorite is anything that uses an actual VU meter that reacts slower like me. ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. I still have 2 more months of possible hurricane season, we haven't had one come through and flatten parts of the island for a few years. Its good to hear people are surviving.
  3. I think that its good to remember that if you ingest enough of anything that it will probably kill you.
  4. I watched the first few GOT episodes again and had forgotten how some of the early characters were a little confused. Looking forward to Sundays new Dragon episode, I wonder how much time will have passed between 7 and 8. I do think its interesting how all current shows seem to be blending in so many different things.
  5. NotGuitarSavvy described the typical SG Special that comes with 2 Humbuckers (of different types covered or uncovered) have a "Bolt-on Neck" that is frequently reported to have wonderful action. These guitars resale value is usually around $150 US. If you install an $80 set of pickups in one it usually doesn't increase the value but can improve the tone, depending on what your sons ears want to hear. You mentioned P90's of which there are humbucker sized versions as well as many other types of pickups of the same size and shape that will drop right in. https://www.guitarfetish.com/Humbucker-Sized_c_578.html Currently there are two Epiphone SG's with P90's and Set Necks The SG Special with a Wraparound bridge list for $449 and the SG Classic below with a TOM bridge list for $429
  6. There are lots of humbucker sized P90's that simply drop in, my favorite has evolved to using Mean 90's by Guitar Fetish.
  7. You were correct episode 6 is another 10 years down the road with a few new female faces. I hope they let the characters develop for a while. I do like seeing the CGI Dragons, which seem to be improving.
  8. Dragon episode 5 seems to have cleaned house on a lot of story lines anded some new intrigue, who is this princess anyway? Not the sweet little butterfly she started out to be.
  9. Hmm.. Solid Les Pauls usually weight about 11 Lbs depending on the density of the mahogany (Norlin era). The most common weight relief is the nine hole traditional pattern below, used after the 70's.
  10. Yes, it is much easier if don't have to drill out the post holes and just use tuners with pressed in bushings as the threaded bushings require much larger post holes. New mounting screws can usually go in very easy if the wood isn't too hard.
  11. I am enjoying The Rings of Power, the writers seem to doing it in a Tolkien-esk style of dividing the characters into multiple story lines, hopefully they will present more exciting meat along the way. The Dragons story seems to be focusing on the King the Uncle and the Princess, going from mundane to intense in an instant, also leaping a few years between episodes. I have found it to be very entertaining so far.
  12. Signature models are just a model built to the artists specification, guitars actually signed by an artist depending on how popular the artist is that signed them.
  13. It seems each episode is a few years apart, the princess is growing up fast, her uncle took her out for a good time in town.
  14. When I used to complain about filling up my Toro for 20 bucks.
  15. New ones tend tone be considerably more, used they are effected by supply and demand but tend to have a high resale value. If the seller is not a Gibson authorized retailer the Explorer would be considered used with no warranty.
  16. A humbucking pickup has one magnet and two coils in opposing polarity. A typical phasing switch uses a pickup with 4 wires and a ground. The phasing switch reverses the polarity of one of the coils making them out of phase. This is the way my SG-X was setup with its very hot ceramic humbucker and when switched on it would get a tone kind of like the mid position of a wah pedal. This is not what is described in the first part of the Peter Green tone video that I posted above. They just flipped the magnet (end to end) and rotated the pickup.
  17. My condolences to all those who loved their Queen.
  18. I wanted just a flip phone, Version cancelled my first orders for their suggested basic phone a couple of times. I ended up getting a Kyocera Extreme , its only 4G but has few improved features.
  19. ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜‡ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ˜ง ๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿ˜ I still think the OP's Explorer is beautiful...
  20. Like I said, your case wouldn't fit in my car... Also I have never seen the word Standard applied to an Explorer with exception of a few custom shop models, Customs sometimes and Classic usually refers to the color like Classic White or Black. The only other descriptive word I have seen used is Reissue. Beautiful guitar though....
  21. I was lucky to find a vintage soft case from the 70's for mine, which fits easily in my small car. There are no tags on it so I don't know who made it, but there are form shaped soft cases out the ere that can be quite handy at times.
  22. Hmm, a Harley Benton showed up on my CL radar.
  23. Ow, the after taste from putting trading stamps in a book.
  24. I have been really enjoying House of the Dragon and the Rings of Power, anxiously waiting for the next episodes. Update, last night I watched episode 3, House of the Dragon, great fun...
