Just saw this on the Epiphone Casino fan page on Facebook...

OMFG!!! They gotta offer this... Even better would be make it a signature model in a "blak & blu" burst.

That is one nice Epi. I wonder if that's going to be a GC jr's special Ed.

Maybe it's just me but that colour looks like its been photoshop'd???

Just doesn't look right...looks too flat.

If it is real it's one smart looking guitar though!

Yeah, man. Its all messed up. His arm and instrument cable cast a shadow to the bottom-left, while the tailpiece and control knobs cast a shadow to the bottom-right. The control knob shadows seem too short as well. Also, his arm doesnt cast any shadow in the f-hole. That whole area is very weird looking to me.

Yeah definitely... There is a very strong light hitting his arm the trapeze and the pickups but the guitar is just so flat looking where it should have an awful lot of reflections on it. The trapeze has a dak line around the top edge that wouldn't be there too.

I am a trained illustrator and would like to think I have a half decent knowledge of light/shade etc and that guitar looked wrong the minute I saw it.

Could be wrong though.... [rolleyes]

No, you are absolutely right. There was probably too much reflection, so someone doctored the photo. As an artist myself, I understand the complexity of shading and shadows, but this is a daytime photo with only one light source, so the shadows should all be facing the same direction. The more I look at it, the worse it gets. lol. A shadow for the arm, but no reflection. A reflection for the instrument cable, but no shadow. The shadow for his forearm where it meets the edge of the guitar should curve on an arc away from the forearm instead of being in a straight line to the forearm, etc...Though I will admit, that the recolor is very clean even if not accurate.

But yeah, awesome color for that guitar. I'm surprised that Epiphone never did a Blueburst on that model.

Epiphone

please make an ES-175 in that color...please

Epiphone made a ES-135 in a blue-burst for a little while.

Might have been a guitar of the month, or some such thing,

but for sure it was a custom model based on the blue-burst 135 Gibson.

Not a 175, but sort of within spitting distance!

This came over the e-mail that lead to the article.

I read that it will be released later this year. (Which means it will be ready for us to buy in 2014 [flapper] )

Where did you read that?

I emailed Epiphone and they replied:

"Thanks for writing! Epiphone hasn’t released plans for this model at this time, but we appreciate your comments and suggestions!

We will forward them to the appropriate parties.

Thank you for the inquiry."

There are or have been Blueburst Gibson ES 137's and ES 330's

Actually, the Gibson ES-330L is not a burst.

It's done in Beale St Blue with visible grain.

I happen to have one, and they're quite nice.

Yes you are right... [thumbup]

I just wanted to mention two of my favourite guitars... [biggrin]

I looked at the Beale blue 330 but chose the vintage sunburst...

Interesting.

The link to the article from Epiphone it stated they expect to release later in the year.

Prime example of the left not knowing what the right is writing.
