He was one of a kind. I consider myself lucky to have seen him and worked with him over the years. A real character, a great writer and guitar player, too. RIP.

I loved Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks.

 

This is one of my favorite songs of his, here performed with Jorma a couple of years ago. Although his style is sometimes called "cowboy jazz", you can certainly hear this one performed by Jorma and Jefferson Airplane.

 

Cowboy jazz? Maybe psychedelic cowboy jazz.
