J-1854Me Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Folks, A better pic of some summer NAMM gibsons: JC So -- looks like a new bridge design and a new pickguard design. And the two left guitars sport sort of an Epiphone-style inlay pattern on the fingerboard. Fred
duluthdan Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Interesting. Taking a foray into the younger player that pretty much love the cutaways and high access, no doubt.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Interesting. Taking a foray into the younger player that pretty much love the cutaways and high access, no doubt. Dan, Also expanding on the J 15 and J 29 concepts JC
Lukec88 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 The left and middle one looks like songwriter deluxe series but with different pickguard and bridge.
Smurfbird Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 They remind me of Taylors -- with Epiphone inlays on the neck. Zero interest on my end. The only acoustic cutaway that looks good to me is the Gibson CF-100. It has style and attitude. These look wimpy to me, though the third one comes closest to near-acceptable. I hope the intended audience for these buys them like those proverbial hotcakes. I'm full up anyhow.
Hall Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Yea, they remind me of Taylors also. Thanks, Juan Carlos for the post. Interesting to see.
EuroAussie Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Are these meant to be 70's Norlin re-issues ? Absolutely awfull, all of them.
Pesh Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Don't mind them at all, personally. Fair enough that things have changed and not everyone is a fan, but I like what I'm seeing. I'm guessing these will be part of a 2017 range...? Perhaps with some standardised parts across the lineup some costs may come down for the consumer?
J-Doug Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Yuck. After the successes of the J-15, 29 and 35 these are quite the let down. Gibson can do better.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 I doubt these are aimed for us traditional guys. They are obvious spin offs of the J 15 (for the young and broke generation). A new 1959 J 200 (thermal top) was on display too JC
mountainpicker Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I too think they resemble Taylor. I'm with Smurfbird when it comes to the CF-100. Florentine cutaways are the only kind I find at all appealing in an acoustic guitar, with the exception of the Selmer style that Django played.
Lukec88 Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Hmm guitars look ok but they are far step from traditional gibson range of guitars, probably aiming at more younger players. I dont like the names of the models HP-835.. what is that, some kind of printer? Its similar to me like Taylor. I prefer J-, SJ-, AJ- , songwriter.. etc.. More traditional names.. The Les Paul acoustic.. hmm.. first when I saw the robo tuner, no thank You! Im my opinion this doesnt fits on acoustic..
J-1854Me Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Too bad that the sales dewd can't be bothered to learn the names of the product he's demoing: "SJ-200 = Southern Jumbo Two Hundred". Way to go, Slick!
OldCowboy Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 All those damn cutaways; worthy of note, however - some of the older generation is broke, too. lol Doubt I'll get too excited about any of those. Electrics were around when we were young, as well.
OldCowboy Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Makes me want a Martin The Marines did a good job training me not to show my emotional reactions too much, but when I read this I lost control and roared laughter - OMG, that is funny! Also kind of accurate...
slimt Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I thought those were Taylors in the Gibson Video.. \:D/
