saturn
I't impossible to say who is #1. But if it has to come down to one person, I don't think it could be anyone else but Jimi.
BIGBENDS
He was the most innovative and influential Rock musician up to this point. Didn't he get voted best guitarist of the 20th century in 2000 in Guitar Plyr mag? I'm still amazed when I hear his music.
myspace.com/jessenoah
for a guy who made such killer stuff (voodo chile, his versions of hey joe and let the good times roll) some of his other stuff is REALLY lame
vagabond
I don't think you can listen to some of Hendrix's songs without just gasping in awe at the magic he makes with it. Just listen to a song like Hey Baby (New Rising Sun). I got into all this in the "most overrated artist" thread a week or so ago, when someone amazingly claimed that Hendrix was the most overrated artist of all time. When people like Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton are saying "he put me to shame" I don't think there's even an argument to be made here. #1, hands down. myspace.com/jessenoah
pete was a songwriter, not so special as a guitarist (though some of his solos can be pretty cool) clapton was always trying to find a way to loose that reputation as a guitar god i still say hendrix is really hit or miss for me
Californiaman
There a lots of guitarists out there that are as talented as Hendrix. Eric Johnson comes immediately to mind as does Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I've seen them both at Experience Hendrix and know what I'm talking about. Still, it's because of Hendrix and the legacy he left us, that a younger generation can experience and participate in.
