Always remember Rule #1:

Rule #1) The Prime Objective of the Gibson Forums - to share knowledge about Gibson Guitars and how you interface them with ALL brands of gear to EVERYONE - Discussions about other makes of guitars is cool too. The target audience of this forum are 1 year old's to 108 year olds, boys, girls, Moms, Dads, Men, Women - or anything in between.

ANYTHING or ANYONE who posts off topic adult content, racist, political bashing and /or prevents 24/7 public access for ALL AGE GROUPS using Web browsers with Mature content filters enabled - as used in public libraries, College campuses, Military bases, Fortune 500 Corporate Headquarters are now being removed.

Rule #2) Re apply Rule Number 1, repeat as necessary.

I issued 30 day ban to a few offenders.

Gibson has a ZERO Tolerance policy for posting mature, or offensive content and WILL ban repeat offenders - don't test me - i know your IP address.

And yes, the forum may be down / sluggish as we clean up / remove entire threads which do not serve the requirements of Rule #1.

Attention firestarters with no life - and have no interest in Gibson Guitars.

There are numerous appropriate soapboxes elsewhere on the web which will meet your needs - use them.

Additional rules and restrictions apply

The lounge was requested by the Gibson Forum regulars as a place to talk about amps, and pedals and other things that go along with Gibson guitars.... and the group of friends who frequented this site..

Why am I not surprised to see the mods guiding us back in that direction?

Thanks!

So we can only talk about gibson guitars...and gibson guitars only...no other guitars or amps or anything else realted to music...wow.

No man... that is how it USED to be... before the lounge. Anything not about Gibson guitars got deleted. We'd post "Happy New Year... oh and Gibson Les Pauls ROCK!" just to keep it relevant.

But we should police our posts to make sure they are G rated. Just as there are things you would not allow a guest in your home to do, as it would reflect poorly upon you, there are things Gibson cannot permit in it's virtual home.

It's not that big of a deal.

I think an off-topic area is a good idea. Lord knows I post plenty of rambles that aren't related to guitars at all and I've tried to cut back on that.

The problem as I see it is that people use this forum to start inflammatory topics with no other purpose than to rile people up and start trouble. Some people aren't happy unless there's some sort of fight going on. And there are people who respond to those posts in an equally inflammatory way, which I guess is just human nature. When your beliefs or feelings are challenged, it's natural to want to fight back and a forum is an easy way to do it. Some of the things said on this forum would never be said if we were having a smoke in the parking lot.

I hope we all just think before we type; myself included. Ask yourself, "Would I say (type) these words if my kids/mother/wife/boss/neighbor were looking over my shoulder?"

I'm not suggesting we all have halos over our heads, and I'm all for the First Amendment, but I think if we all practice some (unwritten) rules of civility and show less tolerance for those who post for no other purpose than to push their own beliefs onto others, then this will be one of the better forums out there.

I posted this in the Sticky and then found the discussion going on here so I'll repeat myself......

------

I'm not running the show, and have had no problem with it at all. But I do have a suggestion about inappropriate posts.

Of course, depending on the severity...

Three strikes.

1) A warning with an explanation of the violation and the removal of the offending post.

2) Suspension with an explanation that they violated the same rule they were warned about

3) Exile

Of course it's your forum, I'm on the outside looking in so I don't have the information and pressures that you have, so please take this only as a suggestion from a Gibson (and Epiphone) owner who likes to talk about music, and who likes to talk to my musician friends about other topics as well.

------

And to my fellow forumites:

Oh, and while I'm at it, the best way to deal with the trolls is to ignore them.

These are the posted rules. Please review them and tell us what rules were violated by homz and Neo.

The Gibson forums are intended for users of all ages, please take this into consideration when posting and use common sense and don't post explicit profanity.

Please show respect for all members. Remarks towards others about racism, sexism, origin, creed and handicap will NOT be tolerated and will be deleted by staff, and the poster will be warned, suspended or possibly banned. Your posts and posted images are constantly reviewed by the moderating staff. Any post or image deemed unsuitable will be edited or deleted without prior warning. The member that posted will be warned, suspended or possibly banned.

1. Do not post anything that is considered to be potentially criminal. Posts made under circumstances indicating a considered likelihood of inciting a violent or felonious act, or a subjective intention or knowledge that its content will be used for, or in furtherance of, any criminal purpose are also prohibited. Such posts will be moved offline and referred to proper legal channels.

2. Do not post anything that is considered pornographic, obscene, or contains excessive reference to violence and/or explicit sexual acts. This includes representational artwork as well as photographic or video media and includes linking directly to such content from the Forum

3. Do not post a person's private information.

4. Do not post anything that demonstrates a clear and present danger to the welfare of another person, or otherwise tends to create alarm or apprehension that the welfare of any person is in imminent jeopardy.

5. Spamming will not be tolerated.

6. You may only have one membership account. Multiple accounts are not permitted.

7. Posts must be on topic to the thread subject.

8. Before you start a topic, perform a search to see if the question or topic you wish to create has been made before. If it has, post in the topic that already exists. Duplicate topics will be moved or closed.

9. Do not post topic titles in full capitals, or include an obscene amount of full-stops (periods) or exclamation marks, question marks etc.

10. Begging in the forums for anything is not allowed.

11. Do not over-quote posts. If a post has more than one quote in it when you are quoting it, remove the one(s) you don't wish to quote.

12. Show some restraint on the amount of images you post. Posts or topics with many images are a strain on dial-up users, so please be courteous.

13. Do not post images that exceed the width of the page. This will stretch the page horizontally causing viewing problems for members. Large images are likely to be removed by staff.

14. When posting multiple large images in a post, consider linking to the images remotely rather than using the tags.

15. Do not "flame" others. Blatantly offensive posts directed at others will not be tolerated.

16. Gibson Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

17. Gibson Forums will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

Banning IP addresses can only go so far - you should look into also getting their MAC address and blocking that.

Careful what you wish for; ye who hollers persecution from the highest tree might lose his grip and fall out.

Thanks elantric and Gibson moderators!:-

Yes thanks for showing us who you serve.

KSG has threatened homz. Even going so far as to point out his ammo and that he was getting him camo gear prepared for Indiana terrain, but he remains. That's some brilliant work there moderator. Your a genius.
