LaRouteDu
My First guitar was a fender short scale and my first epipi was a 1993 Sherry. Whats yours?
The_Sentry
1985 Harmony Flying V..... Right outta the JC Penny catalog.... EDIT: My first Epiphone...bought this year. Hate to say it, but for years and years "the other guys" were more mindful of folks like me. (And yeah...got the Gibson first. That's kind of like the evil gateway for all of these %$## Epiphone guitars...)

The_Sentry
Well 2 or 3 weeks is LONG over DO! Was the Harmony guitar eny good? I wish I still had it. It had a Fender style bridge on it, but otherwise, it was based off of a Korina Flying V model. It was probably made out of pine...but yeah, first guitar. The old man even cut me a plexiglass pickguard and painted it black so it would look more like the real deal.....

The_Sentry
What happend to it? I traded up for some off-brand black stratocaster that I flipped upside down. (and I only had that guitar for about 3 months before I trade up again for another guitar..) It definitely ranks up there with one of the stupidest things I have ever done. Do you still have your first electric?
LaRouteDu
Wow that sucks....that would be nice if you could somehow find it agin one day. Well its kinda funny...When i was eight i told my dad i wanted to play the guitar like him. So he bought me a short scale fender. Then as i got older, moveing on to school and stuff like that, so i was gona sell the guitar for like a 100 bucks (i needed money badly) but my parents dident want me to sell my first guitar so they took it and hid it, now that im older im so glad that they did......It still looks almost new. Big Norm
Can't remember what was the made of my first electric guitar...It was bought from Sears in 1965 by my parents as a Christmas gift...with a big 10 watts amp...lolll...I learned with that one...I was 13 y.o. The first Epi I had was a LP Classic with 3 pick ups in cherry sunburst, and it was in 2004. Bought on ebay. I did'nt keep it very long, since the 3 pickups version did'nt inspired me very much. [/quote'] One of my early guitars was a 60's made by Dan Electro, twin lipstick pup solid body amp in case deals. Dano made most of their solid bodies back then. They also had some pretty nice semi hollows or hollow bodies with roller bridges, bigsbys, and dearmond pups. This thread has been done many times, once by me a while back, but I guess the newer members need their say too, so I'll play. My first electric was a 60's Japanese Tiesco Del Ray bought with Top Value Stamps from Western Auto I think. My fist Epi was also MIJ, a bolt on neck, adjustable bridge dreadnoght acoustic I loved but was stolen years later from my truck. My fist actual guitar was a $13 Stella acoustic I found in my grandparents attic when I was 8.
charlie brown
My first guitar was a Western Auto "Truetone" flat-top acoustic. Dreadful action! My first Electric guitar was a New, Fender (1964) Strat, 3-tone Sunburst, rosewood board, which (fortunately) I still have! My first Epiphone, was a 1966 Casino, sunburst...identical to Lennon's, in it's original Sunburst state. Don't have it, anymore :>( but, I do have one like it, and of the same year (1966), that I bought in LA in 1980. It was structurally sound, but in terrible condition, finish wise...someone had spray painted it, mulit-colors (and not in a psychedelic way, either)...more like a disaster! So, I had it professionally refinished, back to a "burst" again. CB

Ricochet
My first guitar almost 25 years ago was a 70's Japanese plywood black stratocaster. Very much like David Gilmours. My first Epiphone was bought almost one year ago. A LP Standard plus in beautiful dark honeyburst.
Tesla_HV
My first guitar: A left-handed Epiphone acoustic. My second: A left-handed Alvarez Yairi (1979).
JRizZ
My first guitar was a Squier Strat that has become a bit of a Frankenstein now (it started off red, and it now has the bridge humbucker from my Epi Flying V in it!) First Epiphone is my '96 Sheraton 2 bought from the London Guitar Show in 1996.
RotcanX
I bought my first guitar in 1971 or so from a buddy for $10. I always thought it was a Teisco but now I'm pretty sure it was some kind of Guyatone model. Nondescript sort-of-Strat look with two single coils and a huge six-on-a-side headstock. Chrome steel pickguard. Not sure but I think the neck was not original... it didn't really match the body. The guitar looked a lot like the bottom one in this pic (with more rounded cutaways) but the neck had the same fret markers as the one on the top, but with a black headstock. My first Epi was a '94 Samick LP Classic Birdseye in amber.
