You know. Revolver....I MIGHT agree, except they've done too many deletions, in the past, that were just

way off base! So, maybe you're right, but it just feels "wrong" or silly, really...to do anything, without some

warning, first, then a deletion, if we failed to heed the warning. They don't bother...with either. I'm quite

sure, that "Gibson/Epiphone" IS aware of the contributions, of The Beatles, to the love for their various guitars,

and subsequent sales. In our "passion," we might feel like they DON'T at times, but logically, they'd have to,

really. What I have the most problem with, is that the moderators, and NO ONE ELSE from Epiphone will engage

us, with insights, reasoning, etc., or even a "warning" about what they will do, if we don't get "back on topic!"

PLUS, some "off topic" discussions go on "ad nauseum," and NOTHING happens! Others, which can be at least

"related" to Epiphone guitars, or players...get axed in short order. There's NO logic, or consistency in their actions.

That's the "rub," if you will. I hate to keep bringing up another forum, but the Rickenbacker forum has techs, and

even the CEO, Mr. John Hall, that contribute, and answer questions, monitor what's going on, and straighten

things out, if needed. That would be fine, if they'd just DO that, here! But, I really enjoy the memebers here,

and our discussions, and all the information, that's shared! Truly! It's a blast! I/We...just don't "Get" the

moderator's actions, at times. There ARE times, when you just know, something will be axed, and...in those

cases, it's more often than not, appropriate. But...the illogical ones, are a mystery! Thanks, for your post, though.

What happened to The Beatles Thread?! Not

enough mention of "Epiphone Electric Guitars"

no doubt?! That's #$%^& amazing!

John' date=' Epiphone '65 Epiphone Casino (Sunburst, then "Natural")

Paul, Epiphone Casino, with more "Gibson" like, headstock..(Sunburst)

and Epiphone Texan, acoustic....(Natural)

George, Epiphone Casino, with Bigsby...(Sunburst, later "Natural"...like John's)

The Beatles, are more responsible, for Epiphone's success, than any other

SINGLE Act, in History! So, why a thread, about them was deleted, is

incomprehensible, to me! [/quote']

Frankly I think they are childish.

I was enjoying the thread and despite my fondness of the Beatles, I was learning some things about the instruments that they used and interesting bib-bits related to it.

I looked for the rule about "no discussing the Beatles", but like so many other rules, I couldn't find it.

LOL! Well, member "Just Strum" had a nice "Beatles" topic/thread

going, that we were all enjoying, and after a bit of a stray, but then

back on track...they (the moderators) deleted it, this morning/early PM.

We have (as is so often the case) NO idea, why?! Some think it might'

have been all the "You Tube" performances posted, (Beatle and "related" or not...LOL!)

and, I suppose that's possible, but we had actually started back more "on

topic," when it was Axed! So...????

I've really been thinking about it' date=' perhaps we were being too hard on the Moderator. This person has got a job to do and is instructed by the company to remove threads when they hit certain areas of discussion and go too far off topic. I don't question Epiphone's loyalty or love for The Beatles, I think it all depends on a threads starting title or intended direction. For example, if it's just aims to talk about the bands history rather than guitar tone using Epiphone's back in the day then it probably does belong on a 'Beatles fan forum', after all this is the 'Epiphone Electric' guitar forum.

Again, I am almost positive if the topic genuinely involved Epi's in regards to the discussion of any bands musical creation I know they would have no problem with it, especially The Beatles. With all the great knowledge at this forum, it can only help anyone brand new coming in for the first time to learn about these things they are most excited about. Making music and Epi guitar tone!

I am not sucking up here, but I did give it some serious thought and I want to be fair. Now fire up those amps! plug in! and ROCK on! It's a great place![/quote']

Oh God, and I just switched to my "Pissed off at the moderators" avatar. It was easy to find a "pissed off" avatar. How the hell am I supposed to find a "they're just doing their job" avatar? Maybe this one?

Alright, Revolver. Here's your new avatar.

Well, back to subject? We know that Lennon's tone, on "Revolution" (the Single), was his Casino,

A Fender "Deluxe" amp, and some distortion, added "on board," at the recording session. Has anyone

found a Overdrive or distortion pedal, that gets REALLY close, to that tone. It's amazing!! And, '

really, unlike any other, that I've heard! I haven't heard all the distortion boxes, made, but quite a few...

and it's never quite the same. Loved that tone, on that particular song! Any ideas, suggestions?

If they still make it Danelectro made the Fab Overdrive pedal and it sounds like a blown speaker OD, closest pedal I have tried to get that 60s sound. Think I paid like $35 few years back.

Thanks, Byrds1965, I may have to check one out. Was wondering about a Big Muff, or "Sparkle Drive?"

Seen them, and actually had a Big Muff (the original one) back in the late 60's, but I was after "Fuzz"

then, and not that "Revolution" distortion. So...???

I had one of those reissue fuzz faces the round thing that looked like a face smiling and paid a ton of money for it in the 80s back in HS so a lot of money at the time. I left it on a barstool in our basement and my mom threw it out teaching me not to leave stuff laying around.

If I remember that pedal had more of that Think For Yourself, Satisfaction type fuzz, this pedal can sound like a blown speaker like Revolution and the early Kinks stuff on a light setting pretty nice pedal but not metal just 60s type warm distortion.

Yeah, I rememeber those...I had (have...someplace) an original Vox "Tone Bender" too!

But, it was more that "fuzz" type, as well...as I remember? But, in all honesty...that was

the tone I was after, THEN...so, I may not have really done all that much experimenting,

with it? Would love to find that "Revolution" sound, though...

I think the Maestro fuzz was the real deal back in '65. Pert sure that's what wuzz

used on Satisfaction. My band mate had one - real fuzzy.

John, Paul and George all had Epiphone guitars but how did Ringo's name get associated with the title of this thread?

Whenever there was a phone call for their manager, Brian Epstein, Ringo would shout "Epi! Phone!"

I just put up a thread on the Gibson (Les Paul) forum' date=' about introducing a "George Harrison"

collection. "Lucy" LP, ES-345, '64 SG! We'll see how long THAT lasts? LOL!

I'd like to see a McCartney Casino (with the early headstock) and a Harrison Casino, with Bigsby,

as well. Maybe Epiphone could do the "Harrison Collection," too...or "instead?" Or...even

Epiphone Japan?! Gibby headstocks, and all! Hey, I can "dream," right?!

Charlie,

I agree with you totally.

And, futher, I would venture (especially given what Mr. Hall says in the Gretsch book to this effect/extent) that The Fabs are more responsible for Gretsch's (and, in my opinion) for Rickenbacker's success than any other single act in history.

Hi Charlie,

I find that I can get that 'Revolution' sound (single version, I presume you mean, although 'Revolution 1' is pretty close to that, too), with my Made In China Casino and Roland Cube 30 amp on either the British (i.e., 'Vox') setting, or the 'Tweed' setting.

In some of the youtube.com videos' date=' John is seen to play the Gibson for "I Feel Fine", but the video is very obviously dubbed in and John seems to be just picking at a chord. The riff at the beginning of the song and the riff after George's contribution in the middle are different, i.e., John seems to have hit a toggle switch before the refrain. I'm pretty sure John's riff is on the Rickenbacker 325.[/quote']

Hi Charlie,

I'm not talking about the videos. You said that you had read recently about this, and I was hoping that you'd say where.

Oops, just saw your other post.

Thanks,

Actually' date=' that "I Feel Fine" riff, is done out of a barre chord (d) with some "pinky finger" movement,

so it's quite possible he IS playing it, that way. The "feedback" at the beginning was originally done, or discovered

and later added, by John's J-160E leaning against an amp, and when Paul hit his bass guitar's "A"...it made

John's guitar's A string feed back. (This is all in the Anthology)...so, it's quite possible they

used that same guitar, in the recording and/or "live!"

CB[/quote']

That's what I was thinking of when I asked you the original question....
